Hi guys I thought I'd do a write up on the major I was just at. I'll go on about how I did, who I met, what the scene is like and I suppose my general impressions about the game etc...
For starters I want to thank the nice London girl who kindly escorted my to the venue after I got lost and was 30 mins late. In the end they were still playing casuals when I got there and I wasn't late really. The people who ran the venue were really excited to have a Irish person there and were nice. It was a great venue with about 30 machines and of course the main one on projector (like the size of a house or something).
Casuals before were really good. On the whole I won nearly all my matches and had some good game against the Swedish players. And met a lot of people I knew from online. In the actual tournament though I really suffered from having no internet/regular practice the last 6 months. I was fine against 70%+ of the players there. However all the "big guns" were just too much for B3 to deal with lol. I did notice though that when you fight people who think they're better than you the best way to deal with them is a lot of random mids like hopkicks etc. They play with no respect and are always wide open
In the end I got knocked out of losers by a dude called King J using (Bob Ganryu). I don't mind too much though cause he came 2nd in the recent rank battles they have there behind Roo Kang, so he's pretty darn good. I did well enough all things considered. Then in losers AZG4LIFE beat me in a really close match 
(Lee Ogre) Oh well I still beat him up a good bit in casuals earlier.
Had some casuals against Starscream also (Jin Kaz). He's a cool guy and I enjoyed the games (although I could never get past that final round to take a game lol) He laughed every time his electric tracked my Asuka SS2 and said "Haha it's sicking man".
In the end I also won my final deathmatch against one of the London'ers to take home some extra prizes ( A few games etc).
I don't know if you guys saw the final but man Creddy b1 is stupid. After some of us went out for food and it was really interesting to hear the guys talk about the game. I think Starscream was pretty disgusted about his loss. "man I don't want to float Eddy b1 lol, I want a launch to stop him doing it!". But anyway it was all good and they were all approachable. Ryan Hart and Starscream especially talk a lot
To sum it up. If you want to definitely do well in one of these pick "western tournament characters". Creddy, Bob, Anna, Kuma etc. And a partner who does loads of combo damage Lars, Bruce Ganryu. Also mix in stuff like Anna db3 etc and you'll at least make top 8. Seriously. Or you could keep your soul and play your mains As soon as I get internet again next month this game is getting serious playing lol.
Oh and starscream asked me to say hi to all the Irish players. Especially Kuro.0 -

King J is one of their top players, and from what I understand, AZ is a really good player too, so you didn't get beat by scrubs man.
Seriously jello i didn't have the funds to go ...I'd say the atmosphere was electric!!
Let me get this straight tho...
You played casuals vs probably the best Hwo player in the E.U. (Starscream) and yet you didn't get to play his Hwo!!!?!!?! :O :eek:0 -
