Amazing how cold it has remained into the afternoon (in Dublin anyway), -1 coming up to 1pm. Always a good sign when snowing in city centre

On the satellite I think you can make out the snow over the south west corner and the frost/snow over north Leinster and Ulster.

Good to know, think my weather station rounds off DP, doesn't show points for DP only for temps.

That big lump of landmass of northeastern ulster sticking out into the sea attracts most of the streamers in my opinion and most of the intense shower activity. Belfast is however two degrees higher than Dublin today. The shower activity in Dublin today is mostly light however and I cannot see it getting any heavier.

What's the forecast like for tonight?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭hollster2

Bitterly cold tonight with widespread icy surfaces, some dense pockets of freezing fog and some scattered sleet or snow showers can be expected too. Lowest temperatures -2 to - 6 C. (met eireann)

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭paddy ocon

That's mad given the air and ground temperatures - the roads will be tricky later if that keeps up. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that rain is already freezing on contact with the frozen ground there.

Being an optimist it looks like they are going to hit somewhere on the middle of the East coast in 3/4 hours. They look reasonably intense as well!!
