Raining here. There an ice stalagmite from a dripping hose on the deck that's getting rained on and melting. Typical.

From looking at the radar the warmer winds coming from the west of Ireland will reach the east coast quicker before that Wales born precipitation.

    Snowing in Ballycullen/Firhouse

Temp here is 0.4C and DP is -1C

It has been all along in terms of shower activity except in the north east where they have been very intense. The massive snowfalls on higher ground in the East came from a front.
The shower activity is very weak thus giving very light precipitation. That will not change tonight.

Ok, I know doing this qualifies me as a complete douche but I cant leave it.

You mean, Stalactite. Theres an easy way to remember.

Stalactite - Hangs down and has to hold on 'tight'
Stalagmite - Grows up and has to use all its 'might'

    Back to the weather :)

The hose has been dripping onto the deck and the stalagmite has grown up with all it's might ;)

I made it sound like it was hanging from the hose alright, sorry about that lol

Oh! Apologies! I assumed it was the other way around as I figured it would take longer for a 'mite' to form as when the drop hits the ground it would disperse.

Do you have a picture? I imagine it looks quite cool!

The Dew points seem quite high around Dublin city & coast (around 1/2) there'll be no snow unless they drop

The low pressure associated with the approaching precip to the east coast seems to be pulling away and it seems that the precip is beginning to slow its progress towards us. I have a horrible feeling that it will soon begin a to change direction to a more SW and then ultimately start moving away

    I really hope I'm wrong!

It looked quite cool earlier before it melted, fell over and broke into little pieces :(

I don't have any confidence that those showers will move in over us. I think its back to the drawing board for snow lovers this winter. Roll on Feb.

Precipitation in the Irish sea already starting to weaken and it's not even half way across yet.
