Another snow shower starting in Cavan town but its just falling on wet ground.

It will take an hour or so to stick depending on how heavy and how large the snow flakes are. If the temperature drops, then even better. :D

Rain and snow in Bray, nothing sticking, absolutely horrible walk into work, nice views of snow on the Sugarloaf whenever the clouds clear a bit though.

Travelling to work this morning (Back roads of Portmarnock and Kinsealy) and the roads are extremely flooded. With the saturation levels on the ground, surely it would take a monumental shift in temperatures in a downward direction for any snow to stick in Dublin and surrounding counties?

    Snowing in Longford

And sticking to roads and grass. Ground must be freezing as it lashed rain there last night.

Bray, first road back from the prom, 11m asl, snow mixed with rain.

Hopefully optimistic for the weekend tbh.

Light snow fall in Sandyford now. Not going to stick though but interesting all the same.

DP has been falling on M2 bouy and temperature steadily rising since about 6am this morning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭FREETV

Getting lighter here but the wind will help to dry the wet ground more quickly. :D

06 GFS is a slight upgrade for the East coast I think. Uppers seem further west at least.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Just looking at the IWN map most DP temps seem to be hitting a plateau around 1-2. So unless something happens to change that later its going to stay mostly sleety at low levels.

Met Eireann have a warning out now - never saw them mention "blizzard conditions" before. Meanwhile, here in Meath, despite the bursts of heavy snow earlier it seems to be light sleet again.

Still here in Dub T1, Aer Lingus to Bristol cancelled, our Ryanair flight to same is pegged for midday but Id day we've no chance. Hearing announcements that all UK inbound planes are severely delayed which will knock-on here all day. Any hope of a clearance of snow band??

  • Registered Users Posts: 114 ✭✭Patch123

2.4c and steady / dp 1c in Clonsilla. Rain.

Read there was a minor earthquake in the UK this morning http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21073263; didn't this also happen during the Big Snow of 2010 IIRC?

    Just sayin...

For all that won't see snow today just look across the Irish Sea.

They have got 6 inches of snow so far in the Valleys in Wales. With another 6 inches due to arrive in the next few hours.

Live coverage is on the BBC, so at least you might see some falling

Temp rising again here, yet another washout!! Just a normal ****ty, windy, grim winter's day. Doubt Meath will see any snow this weekend.

Snow was sticking on the Little Sugarloaf between Bray and Greystones (about 100m asl) at 8am. A couple of cars with about 2 to 5cm of snow on their rooves in Bray as well. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Yeah I just noticed that. Have my doubts about low levels though.
