The precip totals on the 12Z NAE show quite light precip apart from some western/southwestern areas. Its even lighter than on the 06Z and could still downgrade further. Not convinced it will be anything dramatic but some hills/mountains in the southwest could see a good bit.

The mass(area) of the showers approaching the east coast should grow readily judging by the radar. Intensity wise mightn't increase too much though.

Very cool to see the front suddenly pep up over Kildare/Laois too, was completely dead only an hour ago.

Sadly judging by precip. charts for tomorrow, today could be the east best chance to see some sneachta.

How embarresing. Looks like the South West is going to have lying snow before Dublin at this rate. :D

Well technically Dublin does have lying snow (ok, above 400m asl, but it's still in Dublin!). Probably had the first lying snow in the country too. So we can still have our pride no matter what happens. ;)

Was up the Sugar Loaf earlier, lovely snow up there, great craic, got my snow fix for today so :)

Oh and I'm getting sick of looking frantically out the window to see if its snowing, going to end up with neck damage. Then of course there is the amazing imaginary snow, absolutely convinced at times there is tiny bits of snow falling but upon closer inspection, nothing!

Look at that, showers popping up which shouldn't because of the wales shadow !

Expect graupel from the showers...just had a very ominous few clouds come in from the sea, very light graupel.

There must be a ENE component to that wind (higher up) radar clearly shows showers coming in from a NE direction

Dp dropping rapidly now, down to 0.5

15:45 radar better again. Irish Sea is really springing to life.
We need to see some heavier precip making landfall for lying snow. It will drag the colder upper air down with it and help our cause dramatically.

Yay, our old friend Mr Graupel has returned!! :D
In 2010 he used to welcome-in the big Irish sea streamers.

Rain over Dundalk from that Streamer, so frustrating knowing there should be -8 at 850mb above! Putting it down to the regulating temp influence of the sea. Will need a few cold days here before any precip will fall as snow!

Yip. Seem to be small bits of sleet in it. DP is 1.1 at the moment.

It's staring to dry up in Drogheda so if we do get a good snow shower it might stick. But it's beginning to look hopeless :(

    Lashing down :D

Can see the shower out to sea - clouds are quite dark...thinking it might just be sleet/rain (as it is in louth)...time will tell

Desperate for some cold air this side of the country. Will it ever happen?

Low clouds moving NW, High clouds moving SE.

And where is Roman's Yacht moored?

Edit: And what exactly is lashing down?

The lighter stuff will be sleet/graupel. Any heavier stuff should fall as snow.

    Blessington Lakes currently!

Watching the radar reminds me of 2010, used to wake up each morning, wait for it to get bright and bang... instant streamers

    Good times :pac:

Heavy hail/graupel shower here. We've had skiffs of graupel here all day!
