Just totally awesome pics sparrowcar, you must have been pretty high up to get that snow there. Around the lakes yesterday was very little.
You should put them in the weather pics forum as they'll get lost here.

I see showers building over the Irish Sea but mainly to areas with the longest fetch over the sea. Nice clumps of showers heading for Louth, Meath and north Dublin.

Don't think Dublin CC or south Dublin will see too much from these due to the Anglesey Shadow! :o

Regarding the precip moving into the southwest tonight, latest UK4 model shows it fizzling out over Munster, latest HIRLAM shows precip making it as far as Wexford.

    Met Eireann going for 5-10cm.
    Issued at 20 January 2013 - 07:45

Anyone one near Drogheda or Dundalk ? Looks like that area is in for an interesting day on the radar.

The snow keeps getting pushed out. This will be a non event for dublin. Other parts of the country might do better

Not that I think I'm missing much but needless to say, when one looks at the Irish Sea bursting to life one see's Dublin and northwards in the firing line of plenty of streamer activity with the long sea fetch from due east. Bray in the Anglesey shadow but with even Greystones and south to Gorey in the firing line of some shower activity despite having just an extra 20 miles or so of fetch over Bray.

Tbh, after discovering in 2010 all the geographical reasons why Bray gets so little snow, it makes it a lot easier to bare that it's geographical bad luck as opposed to pure bad luck if you get me. However one must also remember that the geographical reasons Bray gets so little snow are the same reasons why it gets less rain and a degree or two higher temperatures ( fohn effect ) the rest of the year, than South Wicklow or Dublin.

Light snizzle and graupel shower here. Started to settle (well roll down roofs and car winscreens to form little 'drifts'! :)).

Better than yesterdays drizzle and sleet.

If it does snow it wont stick in my area D4 or it will be very short lived. Temp 3.1c not sure how much the snow will bring the temps down, most are saying very light snow, doubt it will do much to current temps.

breeze has picked up and pressure has dropped slightly to 99.95

Light graupel here in Rathnew/Wicklow Town but it didn't last for long. It's +0.5 out there and no frost so that little graupel melted quick enough.
