I'm bringing the nephews snowhunting today, where is the nearest place to see lying snow. I'll be going from Newcastle in Wicklow.

Also, any hope of that front in the UK making it across the Irish Sea?

Just totally awesome pics sparrowcar, you must have been pretty high up to get that snow there. Around the lakes yesterday was very little.
You should put them in the weather pics forum as they'll get lost here.

    Advice taken :)

Snow is exploding on radar over western England/Wales- Will it make it to our east coast? Or at least pep up activity in the Irish sea? Mmmm

Have to say definitely coldest day so far down here. Biting wind chill..looks on latest Hirlam not much progress east of the front and dying out very quickly.

But will it reach southeast doubtful :(

Though the flow was from the west tonight and not the east?

System in the south west is from a slider low while the precipitation in the NE stems from the east

May well do Dan. Pressure dropping too will help pep up showers.

Temps not great though. 2.4c DP -0.4c here atm.

Light graupel here in Rathnew/Wicklow Town but it didn't last for long. It's +0.5 out there and no frost so that little graupel melted quick enough.
Same here. Only about 2mins shower.

Another light graupel shower here now.

That band in west england/north Wales is heading west/north west and building as it heads over. Perhaps it will grow over the Irish sea. Wind direction seems south/south east even here in mayo.
