Generally this is permitted, but it would depend on a few variables. For example, is the unistrut being used to provide mechanical protection or is it only being used as a support?

If you were installing SWA Unistrut can be used and the SWA can "jump" unprotected from on Unistrut to another for short distances.

If however the Unistrut was used for data cables (CAT5E or CAT6) then it would have to completely enclose the cables as they are not armoured.

If the Unistrut was used for NYMJ then it would have to completely enclose the cables as they are not UV resistant (if outside) and IMHO have only limited mechanical protection from their sheath.

the unistrut is bein used as drops of a steel frame to the floor, steel plate gonna be fixed to unistrut at socket/switch height.its inside in a work shop, and was gonna put the data cable inside 20mm pvc conduit inside the unistrut.

It's permitted unless a specification states otherwise. You'll have the concern of cables getting trapped and damaged by unistrut fittings to support the steel plate so you'll want to warn all and keep a very tight eye on things.

their will only be a maximum on 3 by 2.5 nymj one 5 core in each unistrut, and was gonna drill 20mm holes in the side of the unistrut and use pvc/steel flexable conduit to connect into the sockets..

Its often done as drops down to machine isolators, sockets etc. Nothing unusual about it. As said you just have to watch for bolts into spring nuts clamping the cable(s).

Yes, I have seen where 10mm threaded rod passing through Unistrut has squashed cables enclosed within the Unistrut.
