Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lidl have the offer again from Monday 11th for a week. Works out at €4.33/kg, much cheaper than the basic cheddar in the multiples. Hopefully it will become a regular offer.
Manor Vale medium mature irish coloured cheddar 400g €1.73

Thanks I've been waiting for Lidl mature cheese to come on offer for ages. I prefer the Valley Spire brand Mature Cheddar in purple or yellow packs. It's usually on offer for €2 for 400g but this will do .... :)

Turns out the cheddar is branded ValleySpire from Tyrone but not in the fancy reclosable packaging..Lidl must've got the advert detail wrong.

Why is it COLOURED cheddar? Can it just not be irish cheddar with its own natural colour? which you would imagine to be cheddar coloured...

Its valley spire. It's coloured even through the company usually only sells white cheddar cheese. It's dale farm from northern Ireland which make the nice dromona cheese which comes in black and blue packets.

It's very mature. It's has a really strong taste. But I like it. It's like the artisan cheese companies cheeses. But i can't see everyone liking it. But it's a bargain at €1.79 a packet. But it crumbles when you cut it. But it's fine.

Btw red cheese is just white cheese with a natural colouring.

I wish somebody would help me explain to my missus that cheese is meant to be white, she's of the opinion that "cheese isn't Irish if it isn't orange coloured".

Thanks for the heads up snubbleste,we go through loads of cheese in my house.

I hate the way it's always mild cheese that goes on special when mature cheddar is much nicer!

Lidl have Mature Cheddar on offer as well a few times a year. I'm still using the stock I got in February. I managed to get the Valley Spire Mature as well ... the nice one! :)

There's been a dearth of cheddar offers for a while.

Rathdaragh sliced mild cheddar 200g is 99c from 25/08 or €4.95/kg

Good value that. I find Lidl cheese top drawer. Really love their mature organic cheddar - about the best I have ever tasted.

The Rathdaragh stuff is pure muck by the way. Rubbery, fake texture to it
