So I've narrowed it down to these two courses, which one would be better do you think? Anyone doing the course in GMIT? I'm in two minds of what to choose..

Commerce definitely ! Looks better on cv and its also a broader course covers more business subjects

Commerce - you can specialise in accounting if you want in 2nd + 3rd year.

It looks like you get the same exemptions if you choose your options correctly:

As a graduate of the gmit accounting course I'd def recommend the nuig course.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the gmit course it's probably as good as if not better than the nuig course.
However you'll pick up a job from the nuig course far easier particularly if you want to join the big 4.
Also commerce is less specalised to begin with so if you don't want to go into accounting after 2 years you have more options.
Its a pity as the gmit course really is a good course.
I work in the big 4 now and can honestly say that I was better prepared than anybody I met from nuig, they just found it much easier to get jobs.
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
