Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The only blizzard we want today is of (red) goals!

Finally Daniel Sturridge will make his Anfield debut, he will almost certainly be leading the line with Suarez either to the left/right/in behind/floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee. The other main tactical point will be, as ever the middle.

Liverpool are without Enrique, Kelly and Flanagan (who was hardly going to feature anyway) while Norwich City are missing Whittaker, Morison and Ruddy.

Form wise Liverpool are 3 wins 3 losses while Norwich are 1 win and 1 draw from the last 6 PL games with just that fluky 3-4 game against Swansea as their sole away win this season.

The pool to win! Suarez and Sturridge on the score sheet.

    Do we have the lineup?

Don't think it's so nailed on that Sturridge will be starting tbh. Probably still isn't 100% imo.

    Coates not on bench either.

No Reina, Skrtel or Jallen? What's The Rod'gers up to?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,438 ✭✭✭livinginkorea

Suarez and Sturridge to start, interested to see if they can partner well up front like against Utd.

Golden boy Allen dropped too. No harm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

delighted that allen and sterling are not starting, disappointed that coates isnt playing though.

How do people think we will line up? 4-4-2 or suarez/sturidge on the wing

Bunn; R. Martin, R. Bennett, Turner, Garrido; E. Bennett, Johnson, Tettey, Snodgrass, Howson; Holt

That is a direct Norwich team. Howson and Bennett in for Pilks and Hoolahan from Norwich's established front 6.

Hopefully he's on his way to WBA or somewhere to get some games.

If Norwich were at full strength I'd be taking some of the 10's available on them to beat us today but without Pilkington/Hoolahan they look light in attack.

Good to see Rodgers is picking the team on form.

But the starting line up really highlights the glaring deficiencies in the squad.

Why are those two on the bench? Not fully fit I presume?

Lucas has been in truly awful form?

Who would you play instead? Allen? Shelvey?

No idea. Could be fitness or maybe Hughton feels they have more winable games to concentrate on than away at Anfield like Southampton against Chelsea in midweek but given the season we're having that's hard to fathom.

I can only imagine that Coates leaving is imminent.

Lucas over both of them. Allen needs a rest and Shelvey needs to be hungry again. He has been pretty bad.

Having said that Allen will probably come on at some stage of the game.

    4-1 to Liverpool.

I'd play Lucas through it tbh in an attempt to hopefully get him up to speed but he isn't being picked on form. I'd also change to a 2-1 and forget about this 1-2 stuff until it looks like the Lucas we had before the injury is back. He has looked a good yard off the pace in recent games.

Looks intentional from Hughton to me. Liverpool have had trouble with directness this season and he's made his team much more so with those changes, especially Howson.

This 'needs a rest' craic is getting a bit over the top now.

That team makes perfect sense to me. Carragher has been better than Coates this season. GlenJo and Wisdom pick themselves at full back. Henderson has been in decent form and provides great balance in the midfield when teaming up with Lucas. Downing has been better than Sterling if we're to be honest in recent weeks and Sturridge has 2 goals in 2 games and has to start.

Good team, imho. 3-1 to us.

I think its going to be a 2-1 with Lucas and Henderson sitting behind Gerrard. There is no point in resting/dropping Lucas as you said, he needs games to get back to the level he was at before his injuries.

Solid looking team for Liverpool. 3 points are vital here really.

Sturridge will help against teams like that, him up front will let Luis drop a bit deeper to unlock those defences.
