Lightening strike over northside of Cork city...too close for comfort!

Some people have all the luck.

Saw three distant flashs on another white knuckle drive out the M6 with strong gusts hitting me side-on all the way. :)

Lights flickering in Waterford already. Looks like the squall line might be getting a bit ragged/weaker though.

Latest loop on netweather looks like its gaining strength

Not many people have cameras good/fast enough to be able to capture lightning strikes when they occur! ;) Also, I'd imagine you'd have to have the shutter going constantly because the lightning is too infrequent to know when the next bolt will be.

All over. No power in any houses nearest. Phew. Very explosive. Ain't seen anything like that since alicante aug 2011 when they shut down the airport.

Maybe people could get their video camcorders rolling in thunder areas. No thunder in my area near Limerick City. Got some severe gusts of wind with heavy rain for a short time.

That strke could well have been in a residential area...just saw two fire engines heading in that general direction a few minutes ago.

Hope it hasn't done any damage.
