    Its reached Waterford now. Rain and wind picked up very quickly. No lightning.

    No thunder or lightening in Athlone, but severe winds and rain, water gushing down the street outside.

    Also, someone's clothes horse just flew past my window :eek:

    It's coming. Passed over my house a little while ago heading your direction and I'm on the Tipp /Waterford border.

    Be ready for it, some serious lightening display with unreal wind and rain.

    Saw some lightning to the west - here in north Kilkenny. I think that Cork line of thunderstorms is heading this way.
    Lashing now, rain rate increasing all the time, currently 26.4mm/hr.
    Top gust of wind 70.8km/hr.

    Radar looking good, camera phone at the ready, ( although I've no idea how to upload a vid from phone so a YouTube link may have to suffice )

    Not too bad here, electric activity weakened a lot since moving east of Cork. Just saw one distant flash. Some strong gusts though.

    ALERT upgraded to severe thunderstorm alert for Dublin region including Dublin, Kildare and Meath counties, north into Ulster ... squall line approaching rapidly, will arrive Dublin about 0130-0200h, expect brief interval of heavy rain, intense lightning, possible hail and wind gusts to 120 km/hr in wind shift SSW to WSW. Strong gusty winds will continue for several hours after passage.

    according to that map posted earlier there were some strikes around Athlone, but I didnt see any either
