Buying into a business

Hi, Just wondering how would you go about valuing a busness if you were thinking about buying into a portion or even all of it.I think its something to do with the previous couple of years turnover or earnings but don't know for sure.I would like to know how its usually calculated exactly.Thanks.

To me anyway...if I were investing money Id be looking at the ROCE to be at least marginally better than deposit rates for a fairly secure investment.
