What the hell is up with this front? It's simply stopped right outside Cork and hasn't progressed all evening! I know Cork possesses a snow shield but this is beyond ridiculous!

It's been raining lightly here all evening, about 8 miles west of the city. You're not missing much :-)

    Bit more detail:
    Just drove to town,
Home - Temp 0c - Moderate precip - snow sticking
Home -100m height - Temp 0c - Light precip - snow, not sticking
Abbeyfeale - Temp 0c - no precip - nothing to stick

Very odd for no temp change, not seen that before.
Was a 20 min journey, when I got back my tyre tracks were visible but covered.

Anything in limerick or Clare yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭Munster46

How slow is the precipitation travelling through Cork , I wish it would just reach Limerick :(

Definitely snowing here now, but nowhere near enough to blanket the ground in a nice white. Only seen that once in me life. Most of it is visibly melting before it hits the ground. Still, you could watch it forever!

Let's have a nice belated Christmas blanket, school being cancelled tomorrow wouldn't break me heart.

Here also, I was out for a while from about 20.00 to 21.30, started off dry, then a few weak flurries of snow which promptly turned to some weak sleet/rain. Car reads 2 degrees, however trustworthy or not.

Could see tracks of cars on the road on the way home.

Yep, seems to be pure sleet right now. Maybe it'll turn stronger during the night.

Not sure how many people know about this website

    http://www.nratraffic.ie/weather/default.asp?weatherstation=IR8&RegionId=0&view=location

Should prove useful in getting a more accurate local temp/dew points if you live near one of the locations!
