Konami need to get the finger out and start releasing Metal Gear Solid on the PC. Its much easier to port stuff to the PC now with the hardware similarities so I really hope they do it.

The perfect scenario here is that Microsoft run away with their tails between their legs and announce next month that they are dropping all the DRM/second hand games stuff.

I will be getting one, but after a bit of price drop.

This DRM craic is a total disaster, I expected the PS4 to have it too, was very surprised that they seemed to be denouncing it.

The DRM and the price, are really what is making me not want to buy an XBOX One.

Part of an email from Microsoft:

"Over the past decade, you have been with us as we pushed the boundaries of innovation. Xbox One represents not only the arrival of a new generation of games and entertainment, but also the next chapter of our journey together."

Awkward! Eh look Microsoft we need to talk...

I've never played a Kingdom Hearts game before. What's the story with going in to them without having played the ones before?

The story is so ****ing god awful that jumping in at any point doesn't matter. I'd go so far as to say it's the worst piece of fiction ever written by mankind, and I include Twilight in that as well.

Thankfully the games are a lot of fun.

Then come back and tell me I was right :)

At least Twilight has unintentional comedy value!

Mind was made up with that online every 24hrs nonsense. The price was just a really really nice bonus. Too soon to say there won't be any DRM, the publishers will still have something to say about that.

€70 games is going to be pretty rough though.

Expect 'em to drop to 60 quickly enough.

Amazon are listing most Xbox 1/PS4 games as £55, so that should be around €65. Hopefully that will drop to €60 as you say, closer to launch.

Have to say, the PS4 design looks great.

I'm indifferent to how it looks, though I'm indifferent to how consoles look generally. Some have said they think it looks like the XO (as an aside, I'd rather that was how the console was referred.. Or X1. Xbone sounds stupid.) but my first thoughts when I saw it was it reminded me of the PS2 in a way. That isn't to say it looks exactly like a PS2 but I think there was definitely some inspiration there from it.

Inspiration was drawn from 2 PS2 slims on stacked top of each other id say ....

Spose I better go pre-book a console for the first time in my life.

    XBOX HERE I COME.

No, wait, that didn't sound right...

So, having given serious thought to it, my main issue was with the games shown, and initially I was more interested in the Xbox One exclusives like Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Titanfall and Halo 3, than the likes of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Killzone which I have never really been into. But when you consider that Halo 3 and Titanfall won't be around until 2014, it means the only thing I am properly sad about missing out on at launch is Forza, and I can't justify buying what I believe to be an all-round inferior console for €100 more just for that. So I am pretty sure I'll be getting a PS4 at launch, and will likely pick up an Xbox One sometime down the road when the price drops.

    Correct approach

That's what I did with 360 and ps3. At the time there was no logic in me buying a ps3 over a 360 so I waited til it was cheap and had a huge game library

I just put a deposit on a ps4 in gamestop. Can't wait till the damn thing is out :)

I think JRPGs are pretty much all going to be on PS4 this time around..

I'd say the Wii U will get a fair few too, Nintendo are very popular in Japan.

I'm fairly sure those are both placeholder prices. In the last two generations, games have been €60 at launch. Not to mention that most shops will include at least one major game in a bundle.

Most were around €70-75 for the PS3 and 360 at launch, Sony first party game were €60 but that was it.

Is the PS4 backwards compatible? I know the xbone isn't.

No but it has gaikai which will allow you to play a ps3 back catalog post launch by streaming the game from a server farm akin to onlive.

Would be interesting to see a Poll with each console and which one people will buy... PS4 for me anyways ...

I'm a bit dubious now about Gaikai. It's not out until next year and even then, no sign of a European release date. I worry that it might be like Hulu and never make it over here or best case scenario, like Netflix and we get it about 4 or 5 years late.

All you people saying you're going to buy both consoles in the long run should really just buy a decent gaming PC instead and save yourselves all the hassle and possibly a lot of money. You could get an awesome PC for the price of 2 consoles, it would outperform both.

Actually, it would underperform. Performance, here, being measured in games I'll want.

Getting a gaming PC is a lot more hassle and will generally come at the cost of owning any major exclusives, as opposed to buying both consoles which bags you almost all major exclusives (excluding Nintendo ones). Usually, most people who buy both will buy the second either second hand or at a much lower price too.

Tbf, not going to getting into it, but pc has far more exclusives than a console.
