Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do hair transplants work or not?

I am a young male, 26 going on 27 who has a badly receeding hairline - I wreakon I am an advanced Norwood 2 and by the time I'm 30 will more than likely be a Norwood 3 or a bit above. I am already depressed and feeling bad even at this early stage and I am feeling even worse at the thought of my hair receeding any further.

I am trying my best to disguise my receeding hairline ATM by growing hair long on top and then pushing it forward, the same with the temporals - I have been combing the sides to cover up the bald parts in the temporals. Even though when I do this, it's obvious I have thinning hair, I still look 10-15 years younger or more than I do with a visible receeding hairline.

So I badly want to do something about this, regardless of the cost. Do hair transplants really work, or are they predominately scams preying on the vulnerabilities of balding men? Please be honest, if they don't work, they don't - I would hate to waste money on such an expensive procedure, only to find a year or so later it was a complete flop. Also please don't post "just shave it all off"....while I realise a bald head can suit some fellas - It would not suit me or my head shape.

Thanks for all help and advice.

As far as I'm aware, every one of us has a limit in terms of healthy donor hair that can be transplanted from the back of our heads. I'm not sure if once those hairs are transplanted that they stay there forever - every HT doctor always makes sure to tell patients to begin/continue using minoxidil and finasteride together afterwards and you often hear of people needing more than one operation a few years down the line.

I would say that if money is no object then book yourself in after seeing what doctors people are recommending on online forums. If you want to weigh up your options and bide yourself some time then try something like Toppik for now.
