Interesting stats from Orbinho on the twitter machine:

    Last two seasons Benzema/Higuain/Jovetic Mins/goal 127-91-180 Conversion 24%-38%-13% Mins/Assist 232-273-608 Age 25-25-23

Higuain chance conversion rate (no penalties) season 2011-12 43%, 2012-13 32% - Average Premier League striker 16%.

Outrageous from Higuain, sign him up boss!

So Bendy boots is in talks with 6 clubs fees agreed it's now down to him hopefully his ego and wage demands dont price him out the market again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,727 ✭✭✭darego

Arshavin, Denilson, Squillaci with hopefully Bendtner(looking likely), Chamakh and some more of the deadwood from the wage bill OUT is a huge clear out for us which is what a lot of us were calling for during the year and even last summer! We might get lucky and have Gervinho shipped off to Marseille albeit on loan, it will free some more wages up and would let him get some confidence back instead of sitting on our bench

If we can add Higuain to the squad for next year this would be a huge summer for us as he is exactly what we need. If we were to add Fellaini on top of him(which is probably a bit more optimistic) it would be almost unbelievable and I could see us pushing for the league next year no doubt about it. Fellaini coming in would surely see the end to us holding onto Diaby. On top of that some players for the future coming in as per usual like Sanogo

Last summer I would have told myself to stop dreaming, but after the comments from Gazidis and how things are panning out already this summer I could well believe this to be our summer, and easily our year next year

    Arshavin: £78,000
    Denilson: £60,000
    Squillaci: £50,000
    Bendtner: £50,000
    Chamakh: £60,000
    Djourou: £50,000

Talk of Gervinho on loan to a French club, but we'd still be paying at least some of his wage, let's be optimistic and say 50% so:

    Gervinho: £60,000/2 = £30,000

Gives us a potential £378,000 per week freed up. The first three are gone, I'm assuming we'll try our best to get rid of the next three. Gervinho being the only questionable one. Could add another bit to that too:

    Santos: £60,000
    Park: £50,000

Giving us close to half a million extra in wage.

Hopefully we can get most of that done this summer and the rest done next summer.

That's potential, we've definitely freed up nearly £200,000 so far. That's at least two quality players. We need a good summer this year, followed up on next year and we'll be right back in title contention in the next couple of seasons.

    Szczesny
    Jenkinson--Mertesacker--Koscielny--Monreal
    Arteta Fellaini
    Wilshere
    Walcott Higuain Cazorla

pod, ox, gibbs, giroud, ramsey, verm(hopefully gets his confidence back up for next season) all pushing for a place creating a nice bit of competition/backup.

    am i dreaming? :P

Sagna hasn't gone yet. If he does go, we'll need a back up there

Could possibly add Coquelin and Frimpong to that list aswell, as I don't think at this stage either of them are going to make it.

Im also hoping this season we see a bit more of Gnabry in the first team to see if he can cut it.

I really don't think Denilson was on 60k and Djourou on 50k. where you getting those numbers from? Still, the point stands that we should be freeing up a good chunk.

they are leather finish. Were never really a bright red and i suppose after 7 years the bit of sunlight is bound to have had some impact i suppose

They were first team regulars for a season or two, wouldn't be surprised if they were tbh. Hell I remember Djourou being preferred ahead of Koscielny by plenty of fans at the time, never mind Wenger!

What happened to Coquelin? Thought he was solid enough when he was called upon in the first half of the season, for a youngster at any rate.

I'd say they probably were to be honest. Denilson signed his contract at a time when he was a regular starter and I remember someone from the board (might even have been Wenger himself) referring in the last year or two to the club having a "communist" wage structure whereby there isn't a large difference between our highest and lowest earners. Contracts were handed out based on a players perceived potential, a policy that backfired badly when it came to trying to offload players in the last few years

Hope so. Not a big fan of that team tbh.

They've both been on loan so we wouldn't have been paying all their wages anyway.

Think we will re sign cesc

Just think with them signing neymar they will push iniesta inside an that leaves no room for cesc

It's World Cup year and his wife/girlfriend living in London with there child

I reckon it's very very likely to happen

P.S. I got everything wrong last summer :):)

Will we end up paying more than we sold him for though or will we break even? I suppose a small loss wouldnt be too bad. He is top top drawer as we already know and a legend to boot. Far more decent character then Mr Placenta rubber.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Hope we get one of these "big" names early on. Say it was Higuain for example, that would be a real statement of intent and would make the purchase of other sought after players that much easier.

Fellaini for example - he could be with us, Chelsea or Man U next season. A purchase like Higuain may convince him that we will be serious challengers next season and would give him more of a reason to come to North London.

Dont really care if we dont break even on him. He's a world class player. Just once we dont end up paying something like £60m for him, I dont care if we spend more than we got for him.

Faiq Bolkiah plays for our U15's. His uncle is Sultan Brunei. He is worth £23 Billion! Thats more than Abromovich. If we cant have Usmanov in charge, I wouldnt mind this guy taking over. Since he has a nephew at the club he would be less likely to lose interest. Apparently, he could afford to buy Arsenal 15 times.

Yeah and then he makes his son captain of the senior team straight away :pac:

Captaincy means nothing anyway, especially at Arsenal. If anything, it's a For Sale tag :pac:

Stuart Pearce sure knows his stuff :D
They really should put him in charge of the future footballers on England cause he sure can spot talent

God no, he would probably get bored after his nephew failed either that or insist he payed every week despite how bad or good he was.

If anyone I'd have Usmanov who is still worth about 19 billion I think more than double Abromovich and has shown loyalty to the club and at least has said the right things about Arsenal and were he would like to see them, Usmanov as the money bags we know or the same format. It will be interesting in years to come when the likes of Abromovich and Sheikh's at City decide to retire or opt out whether they will have left a legacy and actually built something or just feck off and leave the clubs in a shambles. Abromovich seems to be trying these days to build a club City I'm not so sure.

Probably red fades like a biitch, same reason never buy a red car unless your prepared to really look after it.

No thanks. I don't think I'd be bothered supporting Arsenal anymore if they became a Sugar Daddy team. What the likes of Man Cirty and Monaco are doing to football sickens me. I want no part in it.

Were linked with Gundogon, the Dortmund holding midfielder who scored their penalty in the CL final. If it came off it would be a terrific signing. He had a terrific final.

I wouldn't go that far, but I certainly think I'd lose a lot of interest. Moreso than I have already with our current lack of trophies? I'm not sure.

The only thing I do know is that I think (oxymoron?) the good times are comin and I'd hate for us to just sell out at this stage. Wenger had a plan when he moved to the Emirates and I want to see that come to fruition.

I think Rooney wouldn't work out and Fabregas won't come.

We just need a great striker and a great left wing IMO.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

Rooney is a quality player, but higuain would be my preference. Reading the transfer thread shows how underrated our team is. I genuinely think with 3 quality additions we have a shot next year. Form in 2013 has been outstanding.

I don't know where all the love for Fabergas is coming from. Yes he is a superb player, but he engineered himself out of the club when Barca came calling, essentially going on strike. What makes anyone think that he won't do that again the second Barca start looking for him again a year or two down the road?

I would prefer to sign someone who may show some loyalty in the future, instead of someone who has shown to turn their back on the club, the second someone comes sniffing around.

He was 23/24 when he moved back to Barca. He was with us for 8 years (a third of his life!) When I was that age, I was travelling the world working in bars, but I really wanted to come home as well. Maybe he did too?

And look at his twitter whenever Arsenal play. He's always shouting for them.

His loyalty is no problem with me, he shows that. He wanted to try Barca, engineered his way there, and it didn't work out, so now he wants to come back (allegedly).

He is a fan of The Gunners and we should welcome him back with open arms if it were to happen (which I personally can't see happening)

Is anyone else a bit miffed by the general assumption going around that Chelsea are miles ahead of us? We were ahead of them last season and 2 points behind this season. They need just as good a window as we do to become title challengers..

With Mourinho back in charge I expect them to be there or thereabouts for the title at the end of the season... I also expect Mourinho won't be shy about spending a few quid either.

You would have to be very naive to think that we have anywhere near a good a squad as Chelsea have, if we had of had there fixture schedule towards the back end of the season there is no way we would be playing Champs Lge football next season. Were maybe 3 or 4 top signings off there standard of squad and thats even without them signing anybody, they have been totally mismanaged at the head of the club and that has had a huge impact on there Prem Lge campaign the past 2 seasons.
