Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not collectively, but individually they're easy to find on google.

    The breakdown is roughly:

    2011/12 turnover: £235m
New Emirates deal (comes into effect summer 2013): £30m
New TV deal (comes into effect summer 2013): £30m (conservative estimate - the broadsheets have reported that the bottom team in the PL will gain an extra £24m next season while the champions will get nearly £40m)
New Puma deal (comes into effect summer 2014): £30-35m

Finally we've signed a bunch of smaller sponsorship deals with various different companies around the world - can't really be arsed tracking them down, but they've been mentioned on arsenal.com a couple of times. Also no idea how much they're worth.

I should mention that you need to subtract the value of the current Emirates deal (£6.8m) and the Nike deal (don't know), but the overall value will likely end up in the region of £320m.

    Danke!

320million is a fair bit of cash. you say its close to UTDs turnover now. Thats pretty good considering our outgoings would be lower then UTD's (wages mainly).

If FFP is goina be a reality (which Im starting to think it will be with City not going mad and Chelsea getting cash up front in a recent deal) then we are really in a very strong position to challange. No excuses!!

Know your facts ;), the Gazidis quotes come from an Arsenal Q&A with the fans no reporters involved. Full transcripts and videos of which are available online if you look.

I do, Gazidis never even mentioned Rooney. Reporters made this part up.

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2013/06/07/4031564/arsenal-can-afford-rooney-hints-gazidis

    Where does he mention it?

:pac::pac: your using goal.com as a source? I didn't even read that nothing on that site is worth reading. I followed the Q&A live on twitter.

What happened was he was asked directly by someone at the Arsenal Supporters Trust Q&A could we afford Rooney to which he replied of coarse we could and more than that, this was after Wenger's comments on Rooney.

Chamberlain could play in that squad but sadly for him he is already a full international ;) , also Jenkinson who chose not to play for England and Wilshere who is a full international would have just missed out on it.

Nevermind the likes of Gnabry or Eisfeld were the English would walk into that squad.

Yup. We should really try and model ourselves on Middlesboro.

Do you like the club btw? I get you probably support them, if you're not trolling, but is it like an abusive relationship for you?

I know a troll when I see one... Not naming names, but a person who thinks Wenger didn't/wouldn't have signed any of the Invincibles (despite him signing 15 out of the 19 medal winners) cannot possibly be an Arsenal fan.... At the very most they are an Arsenal fan who knows absolutely nothing about the club....

Jenkinson has an England cap. But again, can use the Chamberlain argument there.

Yeah but if you're going to create an account and troll like hell, then at least do something interesting. Be a racist traveller or a liberal nazi or something and wind people up like crazy. Don't waste your time taking random pops at an under performing football club.

From reading some of the papers today there seems to be a concerted effort from some Arsenal directors to capture the signature of Wayne Rooney.

Rooney might be a good player but I don't think he would suit Arsenal and he might also be a bad influence. He drifts in and out of games and is liable to put in reckless tackles when things are not going his way. Very petulant. He is also likely to start a wage war and disrupt the dressing-room like Adabayor did.

Maybe i'm wrong but i'd prefer Higuan and Fellani before Rooney.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,582 ✭✭✭NoviGlitzko

As a United fan, I can't see Wenger issuing the wages that Rooney demands. It's no secret he has a love for the money. I think someone like Remy (with that case dropped) or someone else would be on his radar before considering Rooney.

It's still early days and I could well end up with egg on my face here but I get the impression that Remy would have been the type of player who AW would have bought over the last 6 - 7 years. Essentially because he's not too expensive to buy or to pay. It's seems that we have bulked up our finanical muscle now and can set our sights a little higher.

Devils advocate here but with the public statement from the board as to the war chest available - if we fail to sign major players where does that leave us / Wenger.

Higuain seems most certain but rumours of him included in a swap deal with Bale

Rooney, who knows ....if he plays behind Higuain then where does Giroud play

    Fellaini.....who knows, someone gives way

It would be nice for once to have signings in place pre season rather than their first outing being the start of the prem season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,617 ✭✭✭overpronator

I dont see us getting Rooney and Higuain for the simple reason that 25m was spent last year on Giroud and Podolski, if you combine another 50 odd for Higuain and Rooney, well those figures make no sense to me. It will be Higuain and hopefully Fellaini. I read this morning though that Chelsea are interested in Fellaini, what odds on that one being tied up nice and quickly by the end of next week.

Marseille are closing on a £12million deal for Arsenal’s Gervinho, according to reports. It is said the Arsenal winger is keen on joining Marseille and talks are scheduled with his representatives and the French Club this week. Gervinho is disappointed with his limited playing time at Arsenal and wants to be playing more games before next summer’s World Cup. We will bring you any developments.

Sky Sports News reporter David Craig has also brought us an update on goalkeeper Vito Mannone’s possible move from Arsenal to Sunderland.

Sunderland and Arsenal, I understand, have agreed a fee. The player is expected to arrive on Wearside early next week to join his new team-mates.

if we got 8mil + for gerv i'd consider it a fantastic sale.

Although he is quite good in Fifa 13.

I can see where he is coming from and those stats do not look good but for example in the middle of 2012 Messi had only scored 1 goal (a penalty) in 6 full games against Italian sides.
Does that mean he would be bad in Serie A ?

If we do not go for Higuin then who do we go for? We have a larger budget but not a Cavani or Rooney budget imo. I think Higuin at 22m and 120k pw as reported with his stats represents very good value for Arsenal and I don't think we could get much better quality for that kind of money.

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

If we want to get back to the top, we have to pay less attention to value and more attention to quality. We've got a squad of good players already, padding it with more good players won't help much.

Having said that, Higuain would be a big improvement on Giroud, but we'll need to aim higher for other positions too if we're to make up the gap on the teams above us.

Between the TV deal and our new Emirates deal this summer, we're probably looking at additional £60m a year in income. That's easily enough to buy a top bracket player if we have the will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Think that article's a bit harsh, although it has a certain merit. Although his record in Europe isn't great, his scoring in both La Liga and for the National team is superb.

And I also disagree that there are 'plenty more' Higuain's to be had. Like who?

Aim higher than Higuain? Like who? He is the third highest scorer in La Liga behind Ronaldo and Messi and neither are possible targets. He represents much better value than Suarez or Cavani while undoubtedly top class players. I don't think Higuain is any less of a player and wouldn't cost us our whole transfer budget.

Also that article is a load of bollocks, remember the same thing used to be said about Ronaldo at one stage and Henry, it's a tired argument people use when they can't find anything else to pick at.

That line irked me too, its simply not true. If we don't get Higuain who else is there? Nobody else at his level his getable IMO.

That elusive top five finish is ours so :pac:

Higuain's a good player but he's not in the top bracket of players and if we ever want to be a force again we have to stop worrying about value so much and pay the premium required to bring in the very top level of players.

Of course you don't necessarily have to have the best striker in the league to win the league, but we need to bring top quality into the team /somewhere/.

Ah come on lad 107 goals in 187 games in La Liga and I am sure a good portion of those appearances where from off the bench, you cant get better than that unless where going to chase Messi or Ronaldo which is not going to happen.

Ok once again who would you bring in better than Higauin? Because frankly I think your talking out of your arse, bad2dabone clearly didn't mean what you implied yet your trying to twist it.
That was obviously a joke. Are you always so belligerent?

Rooney, Lewandowski and Cavani are all better than Higuain and could be on the move this summer.
