Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Villa seems to be a definite no now. Damn! We need a striker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Fortunately Giroud is picking up form now. Don't really have any other options though without taking Walcott or Poldi off the wing. Which is an issue.

On a serious note; Monreal is exactly the type of player the club should be looking at; established in a Champions League team but under the radar of the big boys thus he' good value.

It won't happen, but if we'd have gotten Villa then it would have been a good window. If you'd added Mbiwa to that it would have been an awesome one. The frustrating thing being that all together they'd have cost us only £30m ish.

    Rumour of Reina to Arsenal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,081 ✭✭✭peabutler

Reina is not, and I can 100% guarantee this, going to Arsenal.

Its a fake Martin Samuel account reporting it, despite it being verified. Not true.

    QPR signed Christopher Samba ??
Weren't we interested in this lad last year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭brianregan09

You know what Arsenal have gone out and done something they usually don't do, they sorted out a problem area....Monreal at LB is exactly what we needed , I was fully expecting Wenger to meander on in to the rest of the season with Andre Santos (as hard as he does try he's not good enough), At least now, when gibbs does come back he won't be needed every game

As for a striker I'm not 100% we need one , We haven't really struggled for goals of late and Giroud looks frightning when he links up with Wally and Lucky Lukas some times

Still need a DM and a CB really, we're an injury and suspension away from Squillaci (hes still here right?)

Though I do quite like Rambo in the Arteta position, we need some more presence.

No, the press said we should be but that's about it.

I'm not just repeating the party line for the sake if it but people need to keep sight of the quality of the players we need.

If Montreal is confirmed I'd be delighted. Would love David Villa to wear the jersey as well but I think he could disrupt a front line that is really starting to gel. I really believe that Giroud is going to be a huge player for us.

Monreal and Villa would be some final day signings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Malaga fan on Reddit re. Monreal:
He is brilliant, really, and he would probably play as a starter for the national team if it were not for Jordi Alba. One of the best players we have, you won't be disappointed.

Is Monreal capped at senior level for Spain?

    From BBC:
    2016:
    ARSENAL UPDATE
We actually have some news! Of a signing...!

    It's getting closer and closer!
From BBC Sport's David Ornstein: "Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal.

"The clubs have agreed fee in the region of 10m euros (£8.3m).

"The 26-year-old Spain international will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

"Arsenal had been monitoring Monreal for some time but decided to make their move after Kieran Gibbs suffered a thigh strain in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool."

Sky saying that someone has triggered Diame's release cause. Probably not us though.

    Bet it's spurs. Or bull****

Spuds were sniffing around him after we showed an interest.

    BBC reporting its QPR

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

I hate qpr, they've just got a tourettes like twitch where they have to buy players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,081 ✭✭✭peabutler

Jesus Christ Harry Redknapp is a right eejit

Press Association say it's not QPR

Apparently the release clause is much higher than 3.4 million, so it's unlikely to be us

Makes sense, they've tried to sign every other fcuking player on the planet in the last 6 hours.

Bloody Redknapp, I hate him and his dodgy deals. I still think it is too late for QPR no matter how many players they sign.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,393 ✭✭✭Ed Winchester

He has to try and get this bunch of misfits playing as a team asap too. Its impossible. What they're doing is madness. 2 maybe 3 players would have seen them safe IMO. A whole new team? I think he'd overdone it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭iainconlon12

    Highly doubt it's us

    From the telegraph
20.35 The Diame release clause looks like turning into one of this evening's most gripping sagas. Simon Peach of the Press Association is tweeting that it wasn't QPR. My information is that it wasn't Tottenham either. Well, you know who that leaves. Arsenal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,081 ✭✭✭peabutler

It's no one or it's Fulham

Benik Afobe back from his loan spell at Bolton. That's our striker signing.

2 hours to go. Starting to think this David Villa deal isn't going to be sprung out of an oversized cake at the grove as i'd hoped :-(
