Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stoke have made it very hard fro us. The fact the ref is letting them away with tripping and pulling back Walcott and Wilshere every time they get the ball isn't helping though.

Better be a better second half. That was fairly boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Seriously need to take our chances this half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

Don't we have a habit of not really playing until the second half? Wouldnt worry too much until we get to around the 70 minute mark.

Time for Podolski and Cazorla soon hopefully...

This is like watching a converted VHS on a 25 year old TV smeared with vaseline.

Walcott is brushed in the face and stays down for a minute while arsenal are on the attack :(

Heh, Crouch tries to put ball out of play because Walcott is down, Monreal intercepts, bombs down the wing and knocks a cross in :D

Cazorla & Poldi on, Oxo & Diaby off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Our crossing today has been abysmal

Did the linesman seriously try to disallow that for Theo being offside a million miles form the ball?

    Must do better Cazorla

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,128 ✭✭✭✭Oranage2

So Monteal- wasn't tested really though solid enough debut, makes an improvement on Santos who would be most likely passing the ball to the opposition or playing just behind the striker although assigned to lb.

He's not that type of player.

I really do despise Shawcross. Pure filth from him always

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

    Ouch, right in the nads.

What I want to say about Shawcross would get me banned, so I'll say it in as gentlemanly way as possible.

    What a rotter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,480 ✭✭✭✭cson

Hate Shawcross but that ball was there to be won tbh. Two committed players, Kosc came off worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Walcott is killing us, he gives the ball away every time he gets in and we're trying to keep possession.

Same old ****e from him to be honest, if he's so slow as to miss tackles by the amount he does than how does he ever make any successfully?

eXpect boos, a kid nearly gets his career ended and they'll boo. Horrible team, horrible fans horrible everything!

Almost a perfect set of results there.

Because Kos went across Shawcross, while as usual Shawcross deliberately plowed straight into the opponent.

    Most good

Good stuff. Solid enough performance, we should have taken more of our chances but Stoke neer looked like scoring. Good results elsewhere for us today too, lets hope West Brom can do us a favour tomorrow now too.

Promising debut from our new lad too, put in a few good crosses and looked solid enough at the back too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Results today going our way. Good win as they are a tough nut to crack are Stoke.

We'll agree to disagree. I didn't think there was anything wrong with it tbh.

Good win, needed that. We've a cracking record against them at home, think thats 11 on the bounce.

Good start for Monreal too, looks quality.

Monreal was solid today but does anyone agree Sagna looked solid today? Back to his best hopefully! Walcott was poor, Ox was wasteful, the teams shape looks alot better with Arteta back!

Are we back to doing what we did at the start of the season and judging our defenders on how they play against bloody Stoke?

Sagna looked very good today, as was Monreal but Stoke made our defence look good as they has nothing in attack really. Chambo could and probably should have scored at least one today but we got the win in the end. Stoke don't concede many so a 1-0 is good for us.

    3 points whooo hooo!
    Beat Stoke whooo hooo!
    Chelsea lost whooo hooo!

If you offered me two clean sheets and four points against Stoke every season I'd take it. Great set of results for us today. Hopefully spurs drop points tomorrow.

Only caught the second half but we seemed much better when Podolski came on.
Shawcross's attempt to castrate Koscielny was disgraceful but unsurprising.

    +1

You couldnt really judge Monreal's defensive abilities based on today because Stoke played a 10-0-0 formation.

That said he did get forward quite alot and looked composed and sharp on the ball. Linked very well with the flanker in front of him. I think he will prove a good signing and it is no coincidence that he played a vital role in Malaga qualifying for the Champions league tournament for the first time and subsequently coming out of the group as winners.

Wenger has said that we shouldnt expect Nacho Monreal to solve our defensive problems so at long last should we expect him to bolster our defence and splash out on new defenders in the summer now that he seems to have recognised our deficiency?

Ill even shout for that W@nker Odemwingie if he was to play on though that is considerably unlikely unless WBA are very short of strikers

Arteta can be too cagey and negative. Inclined to play at too slow a tempo and pass the ball back far too often. For teams like Stoke we need to get the ball in the box as quick as possible but we are giving them too much time to get back and crowd their box

What a great day, Ireland beat one rugby team and Arsenal beat another. Delighted with the 3 points, and I won't talk about Stoke too much coz I don't wanna get banned. Mon the Gunners.

Just looking at the table, we're on 41 points, 5 behind Chelsea on 46. Against Chelsea Giroud missed a great chance to put us one up and im convinced that if he had scored then we would have won that game. Hypothetically we could very easily be one point ahead of Chelsea, and all this despite having a desperate run of results. Is everyone around us equally as bad or are we just very harsh judging the team?

You can look at it two ways. Either the league has gotten more competitive or the quality has gone downhill. Even the top 2 teams can't keep a clean sheet to save their lives this season.
