Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apologies, kick off is actually at 2pm.

anyone watching it? The Arsenal team actually look quite good, strong big team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,751 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Gnabry should have scored earlier. Can kind of see why Eisfield hasn't been given more 1st team chances, he hasn't been much of a stand out in this game or the last one. Akpom is only 17 :O some talent, definitely a future first team player.

1-0 Arsenal, great pass from Gnabry to an overlapping Bellerin, tap in from Akpom. Proper Arsenal goal.

Also like Yennaris at CM, think hes only played RB for the first team. Looks like a Flamini-esque player, wins the ball a lot and hes the captain too.

1-0, Akpom. Heard a lot of him, easy finish though.

Agree, Eisfield and Gnabry need a chance

EDIT: Misread, I actually completely disagree :P Olsson looks good too

Oh won't somebody please teach them how to pronounce Gnabry correctly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Penalty to chelsea, well saved but scored on the follow up unfortunately.

Score please. Can't find the station.

Score please. Can't find the station.

3-1, awful keeping for the 2nd, Chelsea a bit lucky for the 3rd.

Eisfield taken off now. Definitely explains why he hasn't been given a chance in the first team..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,751 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

3-2 now. Akpom again. Have to say on a better pitch we might have won this, a lot of our moves have broken down in the box from the ball running really poorly and their 2nd was a mix of shocking goalkeeping and a dodgy bounce in front of him. 88 mins gone. For anyone not watching the pitch is ridiculously bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,751 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    HOLY ****BALLS GNABRY YOU GOD

3-3! All Bellerin and Gnabry again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,224 ✭✭✭✭Marty McFly

Looks like I've missed a cracking game just turned on, does this go to extra time or replay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,751 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

We should have had a pen in stoppage time. Gnabry put through and fouled pretty obviously but the ref let them away with it. Allllll Arsenal but its going to extra time. Big difference could be that Chelsea took off two creative players when 3-1 up and are struggling to keep it now.

Gnabry really is the pick of the bunch out of that current crop. Hopefully he will get brought into the first team next year for him to progress or else get a loan spell at a premier league club. Another year at the U21 level wont do him as much imo.

Just me or anyone else think Eisfeld was shíte?

Gnarby and possibly Olsson the only two that stood out for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,756 ✭✭✭emergingstar

Good showing from the youngsters I hopefully we get one or two from this bunch

And don't forget zelalem, gonna be the best of the lot
We have a potential star if he keeps progressing

Shame, he seems to have regressed since pre-season where we were all singing his praises.
Add Bellerin and possibly Akpom to those two and they seem to be the ones to watch. But you just never know though who will succeed, we all thought Landsbury and Jay Emanuel Thomas would break through but they faded away in the end.
Very few make it in the end.

    Cheers for that.
The attacking looked very good but the defending looked very familiar.

weve had loads of "next big thing" players over the years but it rarely works out. nobody can predict for sure who will make it or not which is why I don't really pay much attention to the youth teams or reserves.

is the game tomorrow on tv anywhere?

In fairness I doubt you'd heard on him either before Matt Law and AFCamden mentioned him on twitter earlier!

I will try find the few articles I read, only got his international clearance this week

Yet to play for u18s or u21s but regularly trains with the first team

He Is our biggest potential from the youth set up, he still might not make it. But they have high hopes for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

So he's never played a game for us but you know he's the most talented of our academy. Riiiiiiight.

This type of discussion has been going on for donkey's years even before we had computers and laptops. I remember a big argument on the North Bank over an injury to our fullback, Pat Rice, in 1973 with some saying he should be sold.
The main thing is not to lose the head lads. We are all Arsenal people and we will all have different opinions which I think is great.

    Think poldi will play anyway.

    Me too.
We really cannot afford many more slip-ups. Nine games left and all should be treated as Cup Finals.
I think if we get stuck in and focus from the start we should win today with a bit to spare. I expect Swansea to draw with Spurs too which will help me enjoy a little wine tonight.

How many first teamers on average came through the academy since we last won anything? **** all despite all the bluster. I don't get why the youth side are seen as being so important when most will be sold for a million or less before they get to the first team.
    Wilshere should be sold
    [citation needed]
    Diaby is a leech
I'll take his place for 50% of the pay.

Just on the youth players. There are few if any clubs who regularly see loads of players come through the youth ranks and make it. For us, Jack, Gibbs and Woj is excellent going for the last few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Haven't seen the subs yet but still no Poldi

Fabianski · Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal · Arteta, Rosicky · Ramsey, Cazorla, Gervinho · Giroud

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

    ...he is on the bench..

Szczesny, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolsk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,277 ✭✭✭batistuta9

is it going to be Cazorla wide?
