Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Draw at best,

They'll probably have won the league by then so could see a weakened/ hungover team at least.

I'm not sure if Spurs will finish above us or not but they are better than us this year.

Every game from now until the end of the season is huge, we need to focus on our own results first and foremost.

Even if Utd have won the league by next weekend It wont make them any easier to beat, this is Ferguson and United every game is a must win for them its there mentallity and they have nothing else to play for so he wont be resting players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Five wins and a draw in their last six league games, thats top quality form.

Though we do look a mess a times

Once again the table doesn't lie, if we finish ahead we have been better, and vice versa.

I really like AVB, but I don't like spurs

On the other hand this means we have a shot at getting 2nd place. That'd be some turnaround for us.

    No we don't.

We can beat United, they haven't looked great recently. Really need Liverpool to get something off Chelsea now too.

I did actually. City have their eye on the Cup and no chance of winning the league. I would be more wary of a team at the bottom who are scrapping to stay up.

    Pathetic.

Gimme a break man , pathetic as ye all loving Nasri for getting the first goal of the game.

Ye will be lucky though coz united will be on their holidays next week at the emirates.

Winner takes all at the bridge on May 8th...ye'll get 3rd imo

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,412 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

    Nobody did lol

Jamie Redknapp probably did, what with Defoe having the most vicious right foot in football and all that.

A bit of a blow to our aspirations for Champions League. Credit to Spurs as much as the result pains me.

Anyone else really worried about the fact that we don't have a proper striker for the next three fixtures?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,300 ✭✭✭HazDanz

Oscar scores a header. The fact that this has happened suggests no fixtures are meant to go our way today.

Na, we've manage alright the last 34 without one :pac:

i've a feeling Gervais will play there

Thought the first sentence was funny

Actually agree with the second an also think he is our best option there

Podolski is a proper striker imo

He's not fit though and a lot to ask of him to get in the groove of the role straight away having not played there all season.

Podolski hasn't started the last 10 league games though, so...
& for that I think the surgery stories are true

I'd say Podolski probably is the best option there, with Gervais wide, but think Gervais will start there on Sunday

with Wenger working with Podolski playing there in training i think it means he'll be starting there next season with Giroud benched

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,379 ✭✭✭Maire2009

I'd go for Gervinho up front against Man Utd - Vidic/Ferdinand/Evans are prone to rash challenges and Gerv always takes on his man (not so much the goalkeeper) and will win us frees. Let him run at them down the middle - might win us a penalty - then we've the benefit of somebody applying the finishing touch for him :D

70 points gets us in imo.

2 wins and a draw from Manchester United, QPR, Wigan and Newcastle.

    Very achieveable.

That would mean Spurs get less than 10/15 or Chelsea get less than 6/15. I assume you'll be cheering for Chelsea in that match?

    Not enough.

Chelsea would only need 7 from 15 and Spurs would need 10 from 15 to better that. And both will do that imo.

We'll see at the time, dunno what I want in that yet. There's no excuses for us not getting at least 9 points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,654 ✭✭✭jordainius

We shouldn't be setting points targets, its pretty straight forward, take one game at a time and go out to win each one.

Tottenham have four bottom half teams and a trip to Stamford Bridge remaining.

Chelsea have to visit Old Trafford, and two tricky games v Everton and Tottenham but both at home, they'll expect to win those two.

This is going to go right to the wire in my opinion. All 3 contenders are just as likely to finish 3rd as they are to finish 5th, I'm confident we'll be at least 4th however.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

So Chelsea 1 pt behind and Spurs 2 but they've both got a game in hand.

    9 point guarantees it then.

Hopefully United win well tomorrow and are still drunk next weekend.

We usually roll over vs united. I'm not confident of winning the other three games either. Stupid giroud getting sent off. :-(

If you look at the games left to play, other than United I wouldnt be against having a pacier option (Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski) up front. Could really take advantage of space in behind, especially in the home games

I have a very nervous feeling about this. We need 4 wins and/or hope that Chelsea and Spurs mess up. Even if Man Utd win the title tomorrow Ferguson will still demand they win at the Emirates.

If we lose our last four games while Spurs and Chelsea lose their last five games we'll have third spot sewn up.

Just need everyone to be consistently appalling.
