Reading this thread is putting me on the spectrum an all...

If OP has aspergers as he claims, then why is everybody arguing with him fruitlessly. People with this condition think completely differently and have different perspectives to most people. While the thinking isn't always rational or making sense it just makes this whole argument invalid.

    Fair point.

As regards bullying and Aspergers link some of you might find the following and eye opener.

What exactly is your point? I'm perfectly aware of the seriousness of bullying and I have detailed my own personal experiences with it in the past in the numerous different topics on it on this forum. I don't think it should be tolerated and efforts should be made to eradicate it as it is awful for the mental health of those who experience it. However I also have an issue with xenophobia and I'm unlikely to tolerate bigoted opinions of any variety under whatever guise.

The term Asperger's will soon be outdated. Now under the umbrella term Autism Spectrum Disorder. Also, did Spock have Asperger's?
No, too much copper in his blood made him give bad parenting advice to hippies

People with Aspergers are always rejected by other children and then later by other adults.
Life for somebody with Aspergers is just one bullying nightmare.

So many things I could say about your post but I'll just deal with this one.

    Totally wrong.

Not everyone with Aspergers is bullied and rejected. I know of at least one friend and possibly one or two others that I know who have Aspergers and have been accepted just fine.

As an aside, I was recently told by a Psychology student that Aspergers is no longer considered a condition on it's own. I didn't totally understand how he explained it to me but he implied that it is now just considered Autism (I know that it has always been a form of Autism) and nothing in itself. That probably made no sense but has anyone else heard this?

EDIT: Nvm, Grizzly dealt with that already:

They said nothing of the sort. You are grossly misinterpreting them. They said not every kid who is being bullied is suicidal.

I have tripped over myself in this thread.

My attempt at sarcasm was misunderstood.

People with Aspergers are slow at processing social interactions as can be seen from the train wreak of this thread.

I am honest about my disability but because I messed up people take a personal dislike again me and there is no way back.

From my perspective you have used every opportunity to attack every gaff I have made without asking for me to clarify what I meant.

    I am wrong? explain why?

Nope. Nobody here has taken a personal dislike to you. Refuting your points doesn't make anybody dislike you, this is simply a discussion.
Don't take it at all personally.

That's the point, there is no "correct" use of the word when describing a persons mental state.

Do you still refer to people in wheelchairs as "cripples" or black people by the "N" word?
At one stage doing so was the "correct" use of the word.

I will again ask you do you think I used that word to be offensive or it not not cross my mind?

It's not personal, OP, it really isn't. The subject of bullying hits a nerve in most people, not just you. If you see yourself as a victim, then that's what you'll always be. And there's always a way back with decent people if you explain yourself calmly and listen carefully. Take care.

Ranicand, I have edited a post of mine for clarity: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=82824970&postcount=52

You're misreading me. I'm not out to attack you at all with my posts and by thanking posts in disagreement with you. It's not personal. And it's definitely nothing to do with your disability - if I was focusing on your disability I wouldn't be debating with you the way I'd debate with anyone.
You presented your views on a discussion board, expect them to be responded to. The ones I objected to were the ones without substance (like there's no outrage over bullying, nobody does a thing about it, there's denial of bullying, there's no understanding of Aspergers). But there are often such flimsily supported comments here on After Hours - I don't deem them to be as a result of your disability at all, just you being a bit kneejerk. These are fallacies and phrased in an accusatory manner, hence people's defensiveness. And ffs hardly anyone labels people nazis for innocuous stuff.

Re what you say below: Who the heck says bullying is ok?
And there really isn't as much objection to giving immigrants background checks as you claim there is. To say there is more concern over that than there is over bullying... is completely incorrect.

The poster who said our minds work in a different way was correct.

From my opening post I put this line in.

The country has been flooded by immigrants with no background checks and anybody who raises the subject is branded a Nazi.

Whats the problem here? we have enough of our own criminals what is wrong with making sure the person has a clean record?
    That was my only reference.

The above subject is like waking on eggshells one wrong word and your bombarded from all sides.

Bullying goes on and on and has lead to suicide and yet from my perspective it is tolerated.

I used sarcasm saying people who use a word that is not PC is worse then nazi but bullying is ok.

People with Aspergers do think in a logical and literal way and people tend to read between the lines things I did not say.

I expressed no views about immigration in my opening post I only used it to show one subject that gets peoples blood boiling to contrast it to a subject that does not get the attention is deserves.

    My little cousin has it!

He can get aggressive when fixed on something like games, I try to inly let him play the likes of angry birds for 15 minutes at a time because if I allowed him he would sit there the whole day playing the game. When he was younger it was impossible to get anything that he was interested in turned off, or taken off him e.g a Nintendo DS or something on the television

He finds lights fascinating and when he was a baby I held him for hours so he could switch on and off the light switch. When he was young as in any other youngster the Thomas the tank engine theme tune was his kryptonite. I even had the remix with 50 cent so the 47 time I repeated the song that it was easier to listen to.

His IQ not at 8 years of age is incredibly high and his ability to understand this amazes me! He is talking about things on computers that I didnt learn until I was twice his age!

All in all he is a person too, in the event of a social night out maybe this wont be for him, but he is so incredibly smart, with the right methods of teaching and understanding this kid could be the next big brain in history!

I had a point to make it my opening post and I accept I failed.

Trying to use one emotive subject to contrast with another I feel does not get enough attention was an epic fail.

Some people find the word retard offensive regardless of the context it is used in.
Again my mind functions in a very literal way and there was no attempt to cause offensive in that post.

As regards the issue of people with Aspergers getting bullied more often then others I will again post this link.

    http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt205009.html

This thread just goes to show why so many Aspies like to spend so much time alone.

Yes that link proves that those with Aspergers can be bullied but I'm not sure if it proves that they are bullied more often than anyone else.

Ranicand you seem to be on a mission to be a victim. No one here has taken a dislike to you (as far as I can tell) but yet you keep making claims implying that they have. This is a discussion board - people will discuss and debate.

I have not expressed what I really meant.

I am sitting here totally relaxed and a little bit annoyed I made a mess of this thread.

What was in my head did not come out on the page for that I am a little frustrated.

Dealing with people leaves me feeling a litter over stimulated.
