I am currently doing a Digital Marketing course and need to do a Digital Marketing Plan for a business. Any business out there want me to do a very basic Digital Marketing Plan for their business? Obviously it will be free of charge but I will need some information on your business to do this .

Are you sure you need to do this for an actual business or do you just make up a business and develop their 'marketing plan'?

You can maybe just make one up but I'll move this to the forum where there are business people. They might be happy to have the help :)
Also you should consider mailing companies in the field you're interested in.

Its quite a basic plan and I contemplated doing it about a business I work for but we have a Marketing plan in place so I thought maybe I could do it on another business who maybe has no digital marketing in place. The reason I put it in Galway as I am based there so thought it would be best to try and maybe do it for a business based in Galway.

I'm based in Galway and have a website and facebook page but no experience in marketing either. If you want to do one up for it?

What type of business are you in if you don't mind me asking?

That's okay, I will wait and think about it and see if that would be suitable for me to base it on if that is okay.

You got a decent offer, in your locality, from a company in a competitive sector that has the basics in place! What do you want, gold plating?

Well Peter if you have no suggestion or expertise , then you might keep your smart comments to yourself. I am 3/4 of the way through the course and I need to see in the next week how in my mind I could tailor different businesses for a Digital Marketing Plan. Obviously I would love to pick a random business like the one the Galwaydude18 suggested but I also would like to make the project as good as possible and make sure I get high marks so obviously I should also choose a business that I can be relatively easy to develop a Digital Marketing Plan for as I am also doing the business a favour so I should at least choose it myself.

Now Peter. That's you told. F*ck off and mind your own business. ;)

OP, ask the mod from the other forum to do you a favour and put this thread back where it came from. You're making no friends here.
As for you doing someone a favour? Yeah ... Right !!!!

I am not intentionally doing anyone a favour but for individuals with no Digital Marketing Plan of any sort for their business (Which there is a surprising large amount of businesses in this bracket), then it would obviously be a helping hand having someone with a Masters in Marketing, working in Sales and Marketing and now having a Diploma in Digital Marketing doing a plan for them no cost.

Give the fella a break lads, it's not like he has to take the first business that puts their hand up. He'll need to weigh it up a little and see who he thinks he could do a really good plan for.

That said OP, I think there are better ways to go about this, you could have 10 businesses asking you to do them up a plan here, meaning 9 of them may be offended and wondering why you didn't pick them, etc.

If it were me I would pick out a few businesses I would fancy doing up a plan for and contact them with a brief email, as opposed to the other way around.

Yes that's a good point alright. I was probably taking the easier option because my brain is a bit fried thinking about what to do and I was just hoping to get a suggestion that clicked and I would go with it. Thanks for the help though, advice and support from people is always appreciated.

Actually I think Gal is right not to jump at the first offer, although he fell arse-over-face in how he handled it. :pac:

He's still in College and has absolutely no experience or expertise at this other than what he has learned in lecture halls. He wants to take on something that will give him the best possible mark for the least possible effort and as anyone in business knows, most profit for least effort is a good idea :).

He also needs to make sure that the offer made is within his capability (I'm not going to use the word expertise because a Masters in Marketing does not give 'expertise' ;)). It may be easier for him to generate a plan for an online business rather than a bricks and mortar business or tradesperson. It all depends on what he's learned so far.

I run a medical communications and marketing business Gal and the one thing I will say is that despite what I've said above, you never smart-mouth a potential client or burn your bridges. What if you suddenly find in a week's time that nobody else has offered you a chance? If you've upset the person giving you the only offer you had then you may end up with nothing. If you do go into the world of marketing you had better brush up on your business development and client/customer retention skills because that's crucial! It's not all about drawing SWOT diagrams, conducting segmentation analysis and developing core messaging strategies.

Good post. I have a degree in marketing thats not really worth a dime in the real world of business. Expertise comes from experience rather then universities.
Probably for the business mentioned above its a bit daunting for the OP to do a plan for it because its not very trendy and more traditional as opposed to technology or internet based.
I would recommend this as a great case though for the OP, because we are talking about something far more challenging then a typical web strategy for say an e-commerce site which most of his peers will probably do, and we are talking about a business owner that admits he knows nothing about that stuff. So all in all it makes a great case study of bringing a traditional business into the digital marketing world of the 21st century, increasing revenues, exposure. You could even stretch it so that your digital marketing company is specialised in improving the marketing around traditional non web based based companies. So you have developed a nice niche market for yourself. Might get you an extra 5%
