Ahh come on, not the racism thing again. We're far more 'bitchy' than 'racist' as a nation. We live on a cold, wet, dreary island and bitching has always been a national pastime. We have to have something to cheer us up.
I think we're a very inclusive people, we'll just as happily slate our own people as any other. We love to slate anyone who gets ahead(above their station) etc. Race, religion,colour,nationality or ethnicity makes no difference it's all just something to bitch about:p

My goodness. I certainly stirred up the nest of "pc greater than all" brigade. Do I feel any remorse for my sentiment? Nope. Though I do feel left out when all my family and friends are out socialising and integrating with africans etc... you know like the way the vast majority of Irish people do...;)

Unless Ireland has become all isolationist and backward, you hopefully don't represent the vast majority of Irish people.

The senator was talking very frankly and very off the cuff as they say. He was saying what many of us feel and believe. People like you need to accept that people with my views and opinions, who have no interest or desire for all things multicultural, form a very sizeable proportion of the population of Ireland. Yes I know what I have posted is unpopular on here but I genuinely feel my views are legitimate. Its nothing to do with agenda or trying to be controversial.

Why, so you point and yell racist! racist! omg!!! my pet peeves with different nationalties are my business, use your immagination. There minor annoyences and it doesent affect how I deal with people.

Issues? what like difficulties integration,ignorance towards different religions and cultural practices, language and skilles issues, representation in political instatutions, a list as long as your arm.

Many people may have misconceptons about different nationalities that are wrong but due to fear of being labled a racist keep quiet and hold on to those misconceptions rather than voicing their fears and opinions and learning from it.

Pet peeves or small annoyances about people are one thing but choosing a taxi driver based on the colour of his skin and saying things like "I have no desire for all things multicultural" (in other words - I don't like dem foreigners) are a bit more than pet peeves.

No I dont like multiculturism and integration being forced upon me. I dont have any time for this pc extreme leftist ideology being rammed into our everyday lives. Who asked me about my views and concerns on whether my kids school should take in an influx of children who do not speak English in their homes to the detriment of local children.

Who asked me my views on the crazy asylum system swallowing up this country's scarce finances? No one. Do I hate foreigners... no. Do I hate the way we all have to participate in (or else be branded racists or made feel inferior by people like you) and go along with this social experiment... yes.

I think the politician meant that he wanted to support the "home drivers" the same way that you would be encouraged to buy the guaranteed irish products in supermarket, he wanted to support paddy joe or micky the local taxis, But that should be his own preference he shouldnt be spouting that off in public because it is descriminatory no question about that, non nationals are doing the same job at the same wage so why should they not get a fare for doing the same work, just because of their skin or desent
