Lumia 800 software update to 7.8

    Just checked Nokia care Suite and was surprised that all the latest firmware for lumia 800 has been released on the care channel. This time O2 customers need not wait for their turn. The first one to release on the channel was for Meteor. Sure we will have to wait for Windows to officially release on Zune.

    What does this mean in simple English? Are we waiting on MS to release it or VF to approve it?

    It's been there since early December, although not with the Irish operator variants.

    It basically means that it's there for you if you want to install it yourself now.
    It's the same software that will be released. The difference is if you do it yourself it'll wipe all your data currently on the phone, so you'll need to back that up first.
    If you wait for the update to be officially released your data will be preserved.
