Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Disability Allowance for Cosmetic Surgery

Hi, I'm just wondering is disability allowance available for people who are temporarily immobilised for cosmetic surgery? I'm having surgery done on my legs and it's for aesthetic reasons that I'm not willing to disclose, but I should be off my feet for about six months. I'm currently on disability for an illness I suffered from in 2011, but I should be fine (I hope) by the end of this Summer.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, Disability Allowance is for illnesses that are expected to last at least one year, and from reading on here they're very strict about the rules. Illness Benefit might be a better option? Sorry, not much help!

If you look at this page it gives all the possibilities and the qualifying conditions for each: https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Illness-Disability-and-Caring.aspx
