That would probably do the job. Another option would be to buy a normal cordless door bell & wire a normal door contact off the push button switch.

Thanks for reply. Probably going to go with the sensor as door would be open a bit somedays.

Have a mate looking for a door chime/buzzer for a shop. Just wants a wireless type so if somene enters the shop he can hear it from the store room. I have seen a few mentioning pir sensors but shop is fairly small so sensor focus would want to be small to stop buzzer going off while in the shop. I have seen this one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B2-WIRELESS-SHOP-VISITOR-PIR-SENSOR-WITH-PLUG-IN-DOORBELL-CHIME-ALERT-ALARM-/261096442620?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Door_Accessories_LE&var=&hash=item3cca8f8afc but not sure if suitable. The door opens outward in the shop if that makes any difference for asny sensors. Cheers

If you had a PIR on an alarm system facing this door then you could also have the chime feature set up to do the same job. Only problem with using a motion rather than a contact is every time it is walked in front of, the chime will ring out.
