Jack Russell Question

    Hi.
4 weeks ago I got a Jack Russell puppy. He is now 15 weeks old and is my first dog. He is very clever and is doing well at house training, walking on the lead and socialisation. He has learned sit, stay and giving the paw. He is mainly an indoor dog as he is still small and feels the cold. He gets walked everyday adding a bit further every time.
When I feed him he eats well but I have noticed he is hiding food around the house, in his bed or behind sofa.He gets 3 meals a day of Royal Canin Junior and treats for training so he's def not hungry. Does anyone know why he is doing this?
    Thanks

You could try upping meals to four a day, maybe he's getting hungry between meals, so stocks up for later! (make them smaller and more often)
Or he could just be a little pig! One of mine is, she did the same as a puppy, she'd take the food she couldn't finish, and hide it under something, a sock, the bed or anything lying about. She grew out of hiding stuff but can still be a pig at times.

Dogs tend to hide food when they're getting too much of it! So this might be his way of telling you to either cut down a little on the amount you're giving him, or that he needs to go down to two meals a day. Try a compromise: make the middle meal snack-sized only, just to get him over the afternoon slump!
Some resource guarders can hide food about the place too, so watch out for signs that he is tense around food when you, or other people, or other dogs approach him, or that he's hovering around his little food stashes when anyone goes near them.
