    Hey guys,

Currently over in Nurnberg on an internship for 8 months, looking for things to do both in Nurnberg and throughout the country. Any suggestions!?!

Anyone else over in Germany on internships/erasmus/studying?

    Cheers! :)

theres plenty to do with Nürnberg as your base.

Würzburg is a lovely city and no distance
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is amazingly well preserved medieval town (and others nearby like Dinkelsbühl and the likes)
You have a bus every couple of hours to Prague or Pilsen which are well worth a visit.
Bamberg is beautiful and has 6breweries brewing 50 beers you can try.

When the weather gets nice you can head a little east and the countryside over toward the bavarian forest near the border with the Czech republic is a hidden jem. Theres plenty of outdoors stuff to do over there like cycling, kayaking, rafting etc.

And before the snow melts you could get yourself down to the Bavarian alps for spot of Skiing in the next couple of weeks.

Your main tool in all of this is the Bayern Ticket which gets you all over Bavaria for a day for next to nothing and less again if you find people to go with.

The uni (or students union) should have an international department that organises trips and activities too. Thats what happens in Munich anyhow.

    also.....
I see that your location is "Valhalla"
Theres actually a very impressive memorial to Bavarian heros of the recent and distant past called Wallhalla (pronounced valhalla) just outside Regensburg overlooking the river Danube.

funny that the Bavarian government can find millions for renovations and upkeep of that memorial yet never felt the responsibility to finance the long (and i mean decades long) delayed memorial and documentation centre in Munich to the Nazi past.

That one won be ready in time for your stay but theres a really good centre at the Nürnberg marching grounds located in the structure of the unfinished 60,000 seater indoor arena that the Nazis built for their party conference. That documentation centre and the whole grounds around it are well worth a visit.

oh, and i should mention that the german version of Oxygen is the dual location festival Rock im Park(Nurembourg)/ Rock am Ring(somewhere up north). Its sold out but if you keep an eye out on ebay or that you could get a ticket eventually.

Probably a bit far away (4 hours) , but Valkenburg has cave biking if your into that sort of thing, also theres stuff around the Three Land Point (NL/BE/DE) that can be interesting.

Do you have a driving license ?
I use this crowd and usually get pretty good prices:

Been to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Postcard central. Fascinating little place. Really is like stepping back in time. When I went there it was very quiet. Almost a bit eerie. I was hungover from Oktoberfest the 3 days before though.

No idea for a pub to watch the match, but I wish I was moving to Munich in two weeks! What a place!

I'd say Killians would be a good place for the match.
