Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dave Scully with Bohs atm, though personally I groan anytime I see him play.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Here is one from a slightly different angle. Most cult heros tend to be a hero to their own club which is not the case here. To Chelsea fans this man was the very embodiment of the word parasite. To non Chelsea fans he is the ultimate cult hero. Given a ridiculous contract of £45k a week back in 2000 which back then that was Carlos Teves wage levels he preceded to take Chelsea to the cleaners and frustrate a football club like no player in history!

Signed by a directory of football and given to a manger who didn't know a thing about the transfer he played a little and was ultimately shocking. Ranieri comes in and drops him and eventually asks him to leave. The player has none of it and sits back on the bench quite happily. Eventually he is not even played in the reserves, asked to train with the youth team and then ultimately asked to not even show up. He spends the last 3 years of his contract sitting in his palatial pad in Amsterdam picking up his £45k a week contract which had grown to £55k on the grounds of his loyalty bonus due to staying there 3 years and a trophy bonus due to Chelsea success in that time.

Ladies and gentlemen the ultimate non Chelsea fans cult hero: Winston Bogarde

^^ When he was actually still expected at training, he used to travel from Holland every morning.

Ipswich had a squad full of them in the 90s.

Ivan Sproule even after scoring the winner against Hibs the other night the man is still a Hibee at heart.

Never played for Cork but was a good sport.

    5' 7'' Stephen "Digger" O'Brien

Always kept us entertained with the can-can dance in front of the Shed during those cold nights against Longford Town.

    Good keeper to boot.

    Tony O'Dowd is another.

Tis true what they say about keepers.

A hero. Saved us many a time. First time as a ball boy chatting to him standing beside the goals. A gent. Does come to the odd game in Flancare.

Used to never look at the camera for team photos as he thought it was bad look and we'd lose. Between him and Stephen "Zoolander" Grant, we had such a weird and superstitious team.

Paddy McCourt. What he lacks in focus, fitness and discipline, he makes up for in technique. He's not an effective player for celtic, doesn't get much game time, but few can rival him for popularity or the ability to produce a moment of magic. The fans love him, 'dont sell McCourt' and 'paddy mccourts Fenian army' being two of the more popular chants at celtic. He typifies the cult hero

    Wow, just had a look at his wiki, some set of honours for his short playing career at the top level, Champs League, Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Super Cup x2, Dutch League x2, Johann Cruyff shield x2, La Liga title and a Copa Del Ray! Also got to love this quote;

'This world is about money, so when you are offered those millions you take them. Few people will ever earn so many. I am one of the few fortunates who do. I may be one of the worst buys in the history of the Premiership but I don't care.'

    :pac:

Anyone remember Cristiano Lucarelli? Played with a rake of different clubs in Italy but was never really that good. He grew up a staunch Livorno fan and played for them from 03-07, the fans absolutely loved him.
Livorno supporters would be considered politically left wing, meaning they'd be in favour of Communism and Che Guevara. Lucarelli regularly celebrated by lifting up his shirt showing Che's image. He also wore number 99 which was a nod towards Livorno's ultra group Brigate Autonome Livornese who were founded in 1999.
Reports that he also paid for a bus of Livorno ultras that were arrested for rioting and was regularly in with the Livorno fans at games when he was injured and even when playing for other clubs. Turned down plenty of bigger money moves as he claimed playing for the club he loved was worth more, he once said "Some football players pay a billion for a Ferrari or a yacht; with that money I bought myself Livorno’s shirt. That's all." Had a Livorno tatoo on his arm too.
He eventually did move on when things got a bit sour but definitely a cult hero.

Spans the start of Irish football in this country and was a prolific scorer. What is forgotten is that we very nearly got to the first world cup but missed on goal difference - by one goal in fact.

In one of the qualifiers he scored 4. Went across channel as well and was a success there as well. He also had a role in nurtering Ronnine Whelan Sr.

Died young sadly as a result of drink.

    Paddy Moore
