I'm seriously looking at buying the Samsung SCX-3405W mono laser printer.

With a new toner costing in the region of £50 (Amazon) I'd like to think I could pick up a compatible one at somewhat less. However, I've read that
'many of the new low end Samsung Laser Printers will lock you in to buying Samsung toners due to firmware updates and the chips being hard to crack.'
The SCX-3405W is been sold at the moment at around £90

In a query to Samsung they said:
The Toner that comes with the printer is a starter toner. It will get you around 40% of what’s in a proper toner. This toner is only designed to get your printer up and going and should last about 400 pages.
Has anyone had experience with the SCX-3405W, and will it only take a Samsung refill? With the OEM toner costing more than half the price of the printer I'd like to think I could cut down on the cost of new toners. When buying new printers I think an awful lot of people forget about the cost of ink and it can be horrific.

As always many thanks for your replies.
    Kevin
