Emerging technologies 2013 - what are they?

    I have an interview for a developer position tomorrow. In the past I've been asked questions to see if I'm passionate about technology and have my 'finger on the pulse'. Can anyone highlight any of the emerging technologies that'll be big in 2013?

    It's usually start-up companies that worry about emerging technologies.
    Established companies who have a good product, tend to stick with the tried 'n' trusted technology stack they have and just want incremental updates to it.

    Do you know what technologies they use now?
    Otherwise, your question is too broad.

    If you asked what is the best technology stack for mobile apps, or enterprise level systems for the financial sector, or web site development it might narrow down the list.
