Agreed. I'm impressed with England, but this is not a test. Scots are awful.

England will be coming to the Aviva as fresh as could be.
This is my worry. We took a real battering today physically, England are subbing off some key players.

Already rolling out the subs...Eng will have to start favourites after this stroll in the park. I imagine the Irish lads will be pretty sore.

This is the key point. How can Ireland turn around the next week and potentially put in another defensive performance like that.

Twelvetrees is a selfish player when he has the ball, trying to do everything himself......

+1, the Welsh gave us a right battering today, and Scotland doing us absolutely no favours for us, or for themselves. "Toothless" as Frankie describes it, and he's quite right. England will be fresh next week, but us? Not so sure. Could end up being a big factor next week.

We've 8 days to recover. That extra day will help a lot.
Also, it's England. The guys will be pumped up for it to avenge last year.

Seems to be a lot of forward passes not being called in this game as well!

Hogg seems to be the only good Scottish player....I'd like him to go with the Lions.

    Spot on.

Ive Eng backed @ -15, subs are always a worry when there's a big handicap involved.

When it comes to the Lions, maybe Hogg, maybe maybe Beattie & Gray, but it's desperate times for the Scots.

Aye, England not having to do that much. Missing their best carrier as well.

Ben Youngs is really back in business though.

Thought 12 3's was good up till that last phase when he should have let it go. Runs nice angles throws a few skip passes. Might be a good foil to Tulagi as is not just bash merchant. Now put him again BOd he might be different. English back 5 very athletic and robshaw super at the simple things tackling contesting cleaning up poor ball. They all look good as not being tested youngs lose the rag regularly when things don't go his way.
so Lawes and Hartley on together there must be a yellow coming.

Maybe Laidlaw as a 9/10 cover?

    But you're right.

Thankfully for Scotland, they have Italy at home this year.

Farrell off now too for a rest.

Denton not making the same impact as he did last year

You'd imagine our defence is going to be a lot better than Scotland's. Scotland are winning a good few turnovers though. If we keep our discipline, England are very beatable. It will be tough though because Farrell is likely to kick all the penalties.

    Hogg, what a try!

Hogg try, that was a great counter attack.

    Excellent try from Hogg!

Scotland's back three really is top class on their day, shame about their teammates.

    C'mon Scotland - I picked Eng by 10.

In attack....defensively, maybe not so much. I rate Hogg a lot though. Very versatile, good under a high ball, good boot and can break the line, nice all-round player.

Remember the year Italy scored in Murrayfield after blocking a kick in the first few minutes? Did they win then or did Scotland beat them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭shaungil

Hogg bringing home the Bacon. Eng forward look dead on their feet. They need to put it up the jumper. Not as athletic as I thought perhaps.

7 mins to go, Scotland need two scores, 5m attacking lineout - fantastic two opening games to the 6N

  • Administrators Posts: 54,425 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Denton has been useless.

    Shouldn't have grubbered it there

    Scotland maul been poor throughout.

(Or England's maul defence has been good)

    Denton is a mess.

Denton has been absolutely dreadful, I'm racking my brains to think of a worse performance at 8. Dire.

Denton has been poor alright, I think they are missing Strokosch too, who reminds of a Worsley type 'tree cutter' player.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,425 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Scotland keep going down the side they have no players ffs. Running in to a dead end and losing the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,733 ✭✭✭Nermal

LOL at Lawes 'diving on it like a panther'.

Both Care and Youngs invite their teammates to run onto the ball with the timing and speed of pass.

Beattie could have held that, he had someone with him as well. Certain try blown.

There we go. Should be a great game next weekend.

Care finishes off with a try under the sticks. Like France, England have great depth at nine. Two players for the future too, Youngs is 23 and Care is 26.

    Next Sunday should be fantastic!

Aside from a few individual performances, Scotland were dire. Then again, with their coach it's hardly a surprise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,620 ✭✭✭Heroditas

Scotland look like a typical Scott Johnson side. A bit of flair and off the cuff stuff but none of the basics and a bit of a shambles the rest of the time.
It could be a very long 6N for them.

    Edit: Thomond - SNAP!
