I got an offer from a job in park west and looking for a 2 bedroom apartment in Dublin where I can travel with only 1 bus/luas etc to work. Also would like to be close city centre with a single trip again. My spouse is working in midlands. So we prefer somewhere on the east side of the city to avoid morning traffic congestion. Any recommendation about area to settle down?? I liked the heuston south quarters apartments which is close to the train station. But they are too expensive to live. Looking for a similar standards apt with 1100 max limit.

Also seen st Edmunds apartments look fine. But didnt hear nice things about the area. Anything you can comment on this??

    How about Celbridge?

It's fairly east, next to a motorway (M4) that goes east, and you can get the train from Celbridge to Park West (15 minutes on the train).

You can get a 3 bedroom house for €1,100 in Celbridge! :D

Finally, there's a 67N bus that'll bring you home if you're having a few late drinks in Dublin on Friday or Saturday :)

Your budget is too low. My budget is €1200 for a one bed and I have not found anything of decent quality at that price, having been looking since May.

I'd say you would want to scrape together €1400 for a nice 2bed.

    Thanks the_syco

Is Cellbridge a nice area to live?

TheBandicoot, I dont mind to get a 1 bedroom apartment either as long as the area is nice and the apartment is in a high standards.

How about Blanch? I am not familiar with the area. But looks like nice apartments are there 2 bedroom for about 1000

Don't know too much about Blanch. Some nice areas, but also one or two bad areas. Unfortunately, I don't know where the bad areas would be.

Also, you'll be going along the M50 in the morning. Pretty sure that'll be a slow 10km. And then you'll hit the Naas road with all the traffic heading into Dublin. Ask on the motors forum how long will this route take in the mornings; http://goo.gl/maps/rPlrQ
    Thanks the_syco

Yes. There are new (east and south of village) and old (west of village) sections, and both are good. Some of the newer houses (built in the last 10 years) tend to be smaller than the older houses.

It has a Tesco & Lidl & Aldi, couple of pubs restaurants, take-aways, schools, etc. Fairly nice area.

    I'd second Celbridge- or Lucan.
Getting to Parkwest might not be ideal- its on the Kildare trainline- but you're on the M4 heading west, so its perfect for getting to the midlands (keeping in mind the 2.90 toll each way).
If you're to try to get more convenient for Parkwest- you torpedo the journey to the midlands- plus its a lot further to the midlands in any event, so 6 of one and half a dozen of the other?

I havent thought of the traffic in m50 tbh. Motorways suppose to be faster :)

But that was a good point.

I am really stuck at this stage :s

I work in Park West, and a lot of the office live in Kildare/Meath - in fact, their commute is largely shorter than mine from the Ringsend area (which involves a short bus or walk into town, followed by the 151/79a/Parkwest shuttle bus out to the area) - usually takes 30 mins or so from Parkwest to Dame Street or thereabouts.

Lucan and Cellbridge looks like a perfect location for me when I look at the map. But on daft I never seen any new and nice apartment developments in both except Adamstown which has a train station which is great. But I feel its too far from city centre if I want to head for shopping etc.

There is a possibility that my spouse can change a job to Dublin as well. So dont want to move twice in a year.

Does it only take half an hour from Ringsend to Park West with 79a? I thought could be more.

I like Dublin4 area but it would be a pain for my spouse to travel everyday to midlands from the most east part of the town.

Up the ballyowen or adamstown end of lucan would suit perfectly, youd have 2 routes to work in park west, decent areas and not majorly expensive

30 mins from the city centre (Dame Street) - from Ringsend, my commute varies between 40 minutes (everything working out perfectly, off one bus and onto the next, minimal traffic) to an hour, generally. I tend to avoid heading in for peak rush hour, though do leave the office at busy periods.

How about any of these? These are all close to the 79a bus route and easy to get out of the city in the morning

OP you mention St Edmunds, I live there, the apts are lovely and the area is fine.

It takes me 45 minutes to get to work in the morning from the time I leave my apt to sitting at my desk, express bus to Heuston, then the luas to the docklands.
I know there is the Clondalkin train station up the road too, the next stop is parkwest on the timetables.

Lucan is a good spot, you've plenty local amenities Lucan village, the complex with Superquinn, Liffey Valley is 10 mins walk from my apt and the Fonthill retail park is the same in the other direction.

You mean Neilstown? They tend to keep to themselves. I've lived here for over four years and I've never had any trouble and I don't get home till 11pm at night most nights.
The only night to not be out would be Halloween, but that's the same the whole county over.

Drop me a pm if you want any info.
