That might not reflect very well on your maternal instincts if your firstborn ever reads it.

They're always moaning about being sick, women. If it's not that they're tired the whole time. It's women's own fault for eating that fruit in the Garden of Eden so they deserve the delivery pain.

I'm sure if I ever hold my own baby in my arms that it will be a sublime, life-enhancing, beautiful, unforgettable, experience.

It's the few hours leading up to that blissful moment that causes me concern. :)

I found out yesterday (through reddit, where else?) that there are some fundamental christian men who don't allow their wives pain relief in labour because the pain of childbirth is all women's punishment for Eve eating the apple.

Is has to be one of the most mental things I've ever heard.

I found out recently that some women insist on having the men in the delivery room!!!

How do women do this again and again?!!

    [/YOUTUBE]

They are designed for it. Simple as that. It is their primary function.

I went through 25 hours of labour before having to get an emergency caesarean. The gas made me sick so tried it once and just left it. The epidural was good. I remember wanting to get down on bended knees to the anaesthetist since I had to wait 22 hours to get it. I remember it being painful and cursing it at the time but I cannot remember it now. I think we're supposed to forget, so we'll do it again. Makes me fearful for the birth of my second in July.

Would you volunteer to take it if it was possible to do a transfer and give your partner a pain free delivery? I don't mind a certain amount of pain but I am not sure I would do this. How do women do this again and again?!!

Here is some shocking information. Woman are designed to have babies. They have less pain receptors than men so feel less pain than a man would. Not magic just nature.

Sometimes the design is flawed though. I'm 5ft 10 (grand child bearing hips on me) but it turned out I suffered a design flaw, and no baby of mine was ever going to be born without assistance.

I don't know about here in Ireland but in the UK you can get diamorphine in labour which is medical heroin. So if you ever wanted to try it...

I did a 33 hour labour without any pain relief at all, it was fine honestly! Obviously it hurt a lot and I was screaming the place down but that's what's supposed to happen. Your body is designed to give birth and if you let it take over it knows what to do. I wasn't trying to be a martyr, I didn't want any drugs because for me the increased risk of intervention just wasnt worth it. I read up as much as possible about the whole process which took away any fear I had and made me able to cope with it all.
