Hope you feel better soon, SarahLil. That sounds awful.

I felt a cold coming on this morning so I've lashed into the cold and flu meds and I'm feeling better already, thankfully.

    Happy new year everyone.

Back to normal today. Had a great Christmas and went to Lisbon for New Years which I really enjoyed.

Ah, I am so happy I'm already all tucked under the covers and warm reading all this talk about going back to bed.
    I like Tuesday cancellation!

Got my workout done a bit earlier on.
    First one of the year!
So now can chill a bit. In bed.

I'm sick today so am staying in bed watching the 2002 miniseries of Dr Zhivago.

I'll have to get up at some point though as the filter trap on the washing machine is clogged and I need to sort it out before sticking on a load of washing.

if anyone still wants the Christmas feeling, ELF is on again tonight at 8pm on sky one! I will never be sick of ELF! Just back in work today. Not too bad but I do have that horrible blugh in my tummy now that Christmas is (almost) finished...I always have it for about a week after, that feeling that nothing will cheer me up ever again, but it does fade eventually

That's exactly how I'm feeling today. Great description of it. Yeah it does fade eventually at least we have our safe happy place here to keep our spirits up. And thanks for the tip off about Elf!

There's another Big Fat Quiz of the Year on tonight too. I always associate it with Christmas so I can pretend it's St Stephens night again when I'm watching it!

Oooh I didn't get to see Elf this year.
And it's still officially Christmas until Thursday!

Think I'll watch it tomorrow for Little Christmas. :)

So the trees and decorations are down and house is spotless, if a little empty! Moved the spin bike into the sitting room in front of tv so that's the plan until the rain let's off.

I love the first night the trees are up and I also love the first night when they're down, I'm odd like that!

I normally feel like that. It's bittersweet when the tree comes down but with emphasis on the sweet as the house seems fresh and cleaner and bigger. This year though I'm in total and utter misery about it. I felt well enough this evening to take all the decorations down and now everything but the porch tree and delph is put away. I think it may be because I've been working on Christmas projects since the middle of the summer and I feel empty now that they are done. So I'm going to try get S's bedroom all done up over the next few weeks and then paint most of the rooms of the house before Easter.

I also think that watching Dr Zhivago ahead of taking the tree down was a massive mistake. It's essentially misery porn and I think I'd feel a bit bleak after watching it even if tomorrow was toyshow night.

Happy little Christmas one and all. The Christmas season has come to a close. It's crazy to think just how far away Christmas 2016 seems but when you remember how fast October to December were it doesn't seem too bad after all.

Thanks loughc and many happy returns to you. To anyone celebrating Women's Little Christmas tonight - have a lovely evening. I'm heading out for a meal with friends as its a true Cork tradition

I just found out that the wedding party I'm attending in March have opted for turkey and ham set dinner! I cannot wait! They're not having the biscuit cake shenanigans either - just a proper Christmas/wedding cake. It's going to be like Christmas and as I didn't have much of a one this year for various job woes I am so looking forward to this :D

When I took the tree down last night S looked a bit sad and told us he missed Santa. But he seemed to get over it quickly, especially when I moved his table, chairs and blackboard back into the corner the tree had been in. A few minutes later though he quite anxiously asked 'how many sleeps to Santa now?' and when I told him it was about 350 (a number he can't comprehend) he tried to insist it would be 10 and went and made a countdown calendar on his blackboard. So I looked it up and found out it was only 81 sleeps to the Easter Bunny and he was happier with that.:D

My husband left this morning, so it's very strange in the house today.

Little S is just so cute!! :)

It's so strange when everything goes from the hussle and bussle of Christmas to the quietness afterwards. Give me the hussle and bussle in the home anyday!

Our heating stopped working last night. The house is absolutely freezing. I may have to hug the tree for warmth.

Lol! Well, my mother was saying that in her day - in the 1980s - this was what all the weddings were like. Apparently everyone used to have just turkey and ham and christmas cake but only in recent years did they start all the beef or salmon, biscuit cake, red velvet cake etc. As many of my cousins and friends are getting married I can tell you that to go with turkey, ham and christmas cake is cheaper for most wedding packages but I love christmas and I love all things traditional/retro/nostalgic so it's going to suit me. Never been as excited about a wedding! I'm usually depressed as I'm still on the shelf and get stuck choosing beef or salmon ;)

I know I love the Christmas hussle and bustle. I had so much planned this year that I thought I'd be glad of the rest once it was over but I'm not. Though I was sick the last 2 days and didn't have a twelfthnight party so I feel a bit guilty and sad about that.

S is on the phone to his daddy right now and is telling him to book a holiday. He wants to go to either Disneyland or Trabolgan.

I was walking down Grafton Street yesterday evening and thought "This is the last time I'm going to see the lights this year :( "

But then I remembered that it's not!! The lights will be back up (slightly later) in 2016. But it's still this year that I'll get to see them again. :):)

That's so interesting ! I didn't know that about weddings in the past ! I have to say sounds quiet nice , in general I hate wedding food. Mr glitz always jokes saying on our wedding day ill be asking the chef to make me a burger and some chips :p:D sad part is he's probably right .. though I'll never admit that to him lol !ah you never know you might find another christmas enthusiast at the wedding ! Get you off that shelf for 2016 :)
