Haven't seen the Argos catalogue yet.

Some very good summer sales on ATM, if trying to save a few quid might be an idea to buy a few bits and pieces. In Dublin Arrnots and Debenhams have great discounts on cosmetics/perfumes etc and electrical goods. Worth checking out. Some decent perfumes/edt for €25.

    Glitz is right.
No mention of Christmas in it. Not even a 'Christmas catalogue coming soon' page. :(

Hey guys :D joined the forum just so I could follow this thread as I may be a little too obsessed with Christmas! :P
Today I walked into my room to find my chest of drawers decorated with christmas towels, and a garland around my bed! My mom put them there for me because she knows I'm obsessed :D

There's a few other things on the Denenhams Facebook page. There on the UK Denenhams page and not the Irish one.

This thread has infected my dreams. I dreamed last night that it was a few days to Christmas and I'd somehow forgot to decorate, so I just stuck up my tiny 2ft tree that I normally keep on the kitchen counter as my one and only tree. S was still quite delighted with it, but I was a mass of guilt at not decorating properly but wasn't sure if it would be worth the effort with only a few day to go to Christmas.

    Thanks Posy! :D

Delighted to have a found a place where I won't be judged for watching Christmas movies in Summer :)

Those Debenhams decorations are pretty interesting, especially the Orange scheme for the dinner table! I have never seen that colour associated with Christmas, looks like how I imagine someone who celebrates their Christmas in Summer would decorate like :D

I went Christmas shopping today! So I'm going to be very excited for the next few days waiting for my first presents to arrive, can't wait to wrap them!!

Do Irish cinemas normally open on Christmas eve? I felt our Christmas eve was a bit flat in the afternoon and I want to try find something different to turn into a tradition. S has come to absolutely adore the cinema, so I thought that might be good, followed by lunch out somewhere more festive than where we went last year. There doesn't seem to be any Christmassy kids movies out this year though and Star Wars: Rogue One looks like it would be a bit old for him. Though our pre-Christmas time plans, involve watching the original SW trilogy over the last 3 weekends of November, so it's a possibility.

I like that Debenhams wreath but it doesn't look like it would survive more than one Christmas.

I was looking up Danny Glover on Wikipedia last night (as you do) and I saw that he's going to be in a Christmas film this year. It looks rubbish. :D

^^^That trailer looks like a total rip off of National Lampoons Christmas vacation , speaking of new Christmas films, Billy Bob Thornton is coming back for Bad Santa 2 :)

Hi iguana, in Dublin our local Odeon opened until 10pm for the first time ever last Christmas Eve. Where before they closed at 6. So I imagine any cinema will be opened with staggered closing times.

Cool, and maybe they'll put on a Christmassy movie as a Kids Club screening. Though I do feel bad for the poor staff stuck in working on Christmas eve if they have to work late. My husband found out that our local covered market did a big Christmassy event last Chrismas Eve, so hopefully that will be an option too this year. Last year his car broke down late on the 22nd (he'd only bought it that morning) and the only garage who could take it was miles away and he needed to go collect it on Christmas eve which was a massive pita and the stress of it resulted in us arguing. It was a pity because the morning had been soooo perfect. Hopefully this year we can have a smoother Christmas eve and if his car breaks down again, we can just abandon it as I have my own car now.:p

I am very much enjoying reading the 'it's only August' comments on news sites. :D Bring on the next couple of months of the slow Christmas trickle. I can't wait.

    Yeah, I don't think it's open until mid-late August.
