Denon RCN8 and Monitor Audio RX1

Hi John,

I am interested in buying this combo. I rang Belfast store today. I was told that ye are out of stock for Ceol. When will it be in stock again?

What is the best price you can do for this combo? After looking at different systems, I really would like to buy. I am based in Tralee.

thanks a million for the post and the opportunity to quote.

Yes just ran out of the Ceol DRAN8 on Friday but we have more in both finishes on route to us (we have lots of RX1's in stock - in both standard and gloss finishes)

The normal price on the Denon DRAN8 / Ceol is £799.90 - we have it discounted to £749.90 at the moment but I can do a Boardie price of £679.95 which is a cracking price - delivery to Tralee would be just £12.95 for the complete system - I would recommend some decent speaker cable as these are two pretty serious bits of kit - something like the Chord Carnival Silver Screen works really well - it's not cheap at £5.99/Meter but its well worth it and if you are buying it with a system I'll do it at £4.99/Mtr

The RX1's are also available in Gloss White & Piano Lacquer Black at approx 20% extra - with the Ceol and the RX1 in Piano finish I can do the Combo at £729.95 (instead of £899.90)

We also have the Ceol Piccolo RCDN5 - which is also excellent but does not have a CD player or FM tuner ( it of course does have an internet radio) they both pack 65WPC and of course they both have Airplay..The Piccolo looks seriously cute and is also available in Black or White..



The Piccolo / RX1 system retails at £749.90 normally - our sale price is £649.90 and I can do a Boardie special at £569.95 again with delivery at £12.95.

Just over two weeks ago you have quoted £669.9 for this combo. I was hoping to get better deal.
Can we agree to £669 price?

I would prefer Rcn8 over piccolo as piccolo does not have wifi.

I am little confused between Marantz 603 and Denon rcn8 . Any advice?

I wouldn't fall out over £10 - so no problem £669.95 it is.

The MCR603 is also a really excellent unit - in fact it probably sounds better than the Ceol - like the Piccolo it does not have a wireless option ( You can of course overcome this AND get a faster connection using one of the TP Link adaptors - http://www.richersounds.com/product/wireless-streaming/tp-link/tl-pa210/tpli-tl-pa210kit which work exceptionally well!

Have a look at the MCR603 spec here and drop us a line if you are interested ( please note its actually cheaper in the nicer Silver/Gold finish at the moment!)

  I can't check at the moment as I'm not in the office but I know that we have lots on order at the moment and we have them in stock in our main warehouse so supply isn't an issue.

I think that whilst the Denon has slightly more power and features than the Marantz - the Marantz pips the Ceol when it comes to audio quality.

However if wifi is important to you then the Denon would have the edge as you would have to either have a wired internet connection or use a network extender such as the TP Link to get web access & Airplay on the Marantz - which of course will tip the price of the Marantz significantly over that of the Denon - on a completely separate the Marantz looks more like a conventional piece of hifi whilst the Denon is more modern looking and if you were thinking of the Black Denon then it really goes extremely well with the Piano Lacquer RX1's.
