Ponting and SRT in the same team......maybe Punter can give SRT some advice on retiring gracefully:)

BTW who the hell are Glenn Maxwell and Kane Richardson.....bought for a million and 700,000 apiece.....never heard of them before:(

.....and Sachithra Senanayake for 625,000:(......Never heard of him either!!

I must be more out of touch with what's going in the cricket world at present than I thought I was!

    True:)

.....and yet somebody like Martin Guptill who only last month scored a great T20 century against SA remained unsold despite having a base price of only 100,000......at that price you would have thought he would have been a bargain buy

Looking forward to Punter and SRT opening the batting for Mumbai though:)

I have to say I know absolutely nothing about Maxwell. He has only a small handful of games for Australia doesnt he? Looks like he was selected on the basis of good domestic form, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but its a bit baffling that he went for so much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭Rascasse

I've heard of Maxwell as he played for Hants in the FL t20 last year. Never heard of Richardson though and neither can be worth that. Another crazy amount was $625k for Chris Morris, a guy thats played a single t20i for South Africa. His base price was just $20k.

I just hope there's no funny business going on.

Morris is a good all rounder, can smash it, and very canny bowler, big money but he worth a go.

Maxwell is massive money, but he is a match winner in this format. bowling is so-so, but he can be really destructive when in.

Guptil not been signed is mental, proven world class 20/20 player and a gun in the field.

Did any team pick Kevin o Brien?

    no, he went unsold

he was pretty piss poor in the BPL although his bowling was good. No surprise he went unsold.

To me Stirlo is the only Irish player worthy of consideration for IPL right now.

    Starts tomorrow.

IMO we(RCB) have more balanced team that last season. We lacked one local bowler and that extra bowler went for too many runs so this season we sigend R.P Singh, Murali Karthik.

    Would go with

    Gayle
    Mayank Agarwal
    Pujara
    Kohli
    AB De Villiars
    Tiwary
McDonald/Henriques/Christian (not sure who is better)
    Vinay Kumar
    Zaheer Khan
    Muralitharan
    RP Singh

Not sure whom to drop from foreign players to play Dilshan and Vettori. Gayle and AB De are undroppable. We need a genuine allrounder. So one slot and Murali was our best bowler last season.

Also we have Ravi Rampaul and Murali Karthik.

Mumbai are so retarded, you are chasing a big score and you leave Pollard batting at seven? I mean how stupid can Ponting be?

LOL at that Rayudu lad, absolute mug of a player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,521 ✭✭✭Giggsy11

Amazing game between RCB vs Mumbai.

Gayle was superb, scored 92. Christian did his best to lose the game but Vinay kumar bowled brilliant last over.

What a match and even better that Vinay kumar is from my hometown :D

To be fair it was more due to poor captaincy by Ponting, inept batting from Rayudu then anything else.

Still can't belive that he came in before Pollard, heck even Oram as a pinch hitter would have been a better idea.

Horror shot from Rohit as well.

Credit where it is due, it was very good last over and the over before that by Unadkat.

Yeah Pollard coming so late was just poor captaincy. We did similar thing so many times with AB De. Sending Saurabh Tiwary before him.

Harsh on Tiwary to compare him to Rayudu, still can't believe how bad of an innings that was.

I'd blame Ponting a little as well, as he batted to slowly, and got bogged down to easily. Really he and SRT should not be opening together, not even sure both should be in same team.

Vinay bowled well and Gayle was awesome especially as he was barely able to bat.

    Christian though? No just no!

IMO Rayudu >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tiwary. Rayudu was very good talent and he played well in previous IPLs. This game he didn't though. Whereas Tiwary is just awful. He can't clear the boundary unless he puts everything into the shot.

I don't think there is any foreigner who is loved as much as Gayle. It was Ross Taylor before but now it's all Gayle and AB De. I remember him playing few innings when he did his hamstring and was not arsed to run. He just kept clearing the boundaries. Amazing pick up by RCB.

Must say Delhi have looked really poor this year,if they expect Sehwag to save them,oh dear.

Impressed with Banglaore yesterday, still worry about the lower order but they look very dominant at home. Pune finally clicked as well, way to good of a team to keep losing.

This time our local bowlers are very good. RVP, Vinay Kumar, Murali Karthik, Unadkat and we still have Zaheer to come back. Our mail problem is the all rounder. Not impressed with Daniel Christian, Henriques or McDonald. I think its about time we drop them and play specialist Batsman. Gayle, Dilshan and AB De should do but biggest problem is Dilshan's form.

Ravi batting way to high here.

Monster hitting from Christian as usual.:P

Up to Ab here to get them to a big score, chennai bat very deep.

Smashing innings for Morgan today for KKR, 47 off 21 balls

Great to see Morgs getting a good run in the IPL:).....KKR won the IPL last year more or less without Morgan so was wondering whether he would be given any chances this year

He is too good a T20 player to sit on the bench

This IPL has been amazing. So many close games already and most of them involved RCB.

Finally good to see us having some luck in tight games but tbh we should have won it easily. AB De run out changed the game..

You need runs from someone outside the top 3, not sure where they are going to come from. Agarwal is ok, but crude, Kartik is in poor form and the tail is awful. Mc Donald hopefully will step up, he is a very underrated player, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Christian back next game.:(

We need one batsman. Pujara is injured, with him in the team we can play him as opener and Agarwal in the middle order.

With the squad we have, I think best thing to do is play Dilshan as these all rounders are not really good with the ball. Play Vinay Kumar, Unadkat, Murali Karthik/Syed, Rampaul/Murali and RP singh so that we will have at least decent batting line up with good bowling.

Wouldn't mind Vettori in the place of McDonaldo. At least he can bat and bowl.

Don't rate Pujara in 20/20 sadly.

Mumbai really have to ask why are they opening up with two has beens every game? Ponting has never gave a damn about 20/20, as he has hardly played it over his career and Mumbai for reasons unknown go and sign him and make him captain. Lunacy.
Rohit is a bit pointless in tough chases, and Rayudu looks totally clueless.

Gayle is the best T20 batsman ever. What a player. The best innings I have seen in a T20.

EDIT....Went for 28. actually not a bad effort from him to be fair! Although what a mismatch ABDV v Dinda!!!

Watched IPL for the first time last night, after following(ish) Ashes matches and previous WCs. It truely was some amazing batting from Miller.

Currently have Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders, great catch form Morgan right on the boundary towards the end of Mumbai Indians innings, hopefully he can perform some of that great batting I have heard/read now. Will be watching again tomorrow night if ITV4 have a match on.

Tomorrow's/Todays! game is Chennai vs Sunrisers, could be fun indeed.:)

    http://stats.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2013/engine/records/batting/most_runs_career.html?id=7720;team=4341;type=tournament

Not been amazing, but scored the 2nd most runs for the team and overshadowed quite a few players. If I was a KKR fan I would be more annoyed with the likes of Pathan Tiwary and especially Kallis for contributing **** all.

Morgan will be fine if KKR don't want him, highly rated in 20/20.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭B1gft

Kallis all rounder Morgan only has the batting and todays match proved again he is not playing well. Also they moved him up the batting order like itv were saying should happen but it made no differance. Agree with you about Pathan has not scored over 50 for a long time.

I felt he has done very well this year overall. He has scored consistently enough. He has come in a number of times with a lot of pressure on and delivered big innings. The rest of his team has underperformed particualrly their top order. He has gone out cheaply a couple of times but in almost every innings he has come in with his team under a lot of pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,175 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Bangalore maybe you should sign some decent bowlers for a change instead of relying on emdiocre all rounders and Indian duds like Vinay, Unadakt, RP Singh and Zaheer?

    See.....what did I tell you......

Perhaps next year they should give CSK a bye direct to the final and let the other teams battle it out......that way we might have an IPL that doesn't go on forever;)
