Why aren't iPods drag / drop?

I have been through many MP3s and MP4s in my life and I recently received an iPod from "Santa", I hate the interface, it is an iPod Classic, 120 GB. Why can't you (like any reasonable, normal media device) drag your files straight from WMP or My Computer and store them directly on your iPod without the need for having them stored on your computer / hard drive then having to sync it each time. I only have a netbook, a very small hard drive, and I have 50 GB of songs and MP4s/ AVIs, and I have to lug out the hard drive and transfer them across every time I want to sync. It sucks ass :( If one song / file is accidentally deleted from the hard drive when I sync, that will be removed from my iPod, who thought of such a fucking shit interface. I mean really. I mean honestly. Is there any way to jail break an iPod Classic or make it drag / drop? Is this legal to do this / ask about this mods?

TLDR: I'm not a fan of Apple Products, can I jailbreak an iPod Classic 120 GB or make it drag drop interface?

I feel like ive drag and dropped before, you just drag from file explorer into the itunes window under your ipod/phone icon and bam.

Cant trial this out though because, i use their somewhat broken match service. /sigh

You're looking for something like Floola or SharePod, software that allows you to manage your iPod entirely without iTunes. These programs are "portable", meaning, you don't have to install anything they run from the iPod on any computer.

    I recommend flashing this:http://www.rockbox.org/
Turn it into a real MP3 player that plays Wma and has drag/drop

You can do this from within iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535

Then the music is managed separately on your iPod and computer. You can delete everything from your PC and it will still be on your iPod

They want people to buy music ,videos, books, so you need to load up itunes, its a store ,its full of ads.I just use a phone ,16gig sd card ,ie i use that to play music, cost 60 euro 3 shop.
i use d this when i had an ipod.
    http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
drag songs to itunes window, click sync ipod, wait 3mins, till sync is complete.
to sync 10 mp3s, might take 9minutes.But you only need to do it once.
    I find a phone is just easier,than mp3 players, i use a sdcard to usb cable,cost 2 euro.
I remember when mp3 players ,first came out, before ipod ,s there was no legal way to buy music online, app stores, itunes did not exist.
The only option was rip cds, drag and drop to mp3player.
