Great to see Henry back he was great on smackdown before his injury best monster heel in years.

Would love to see Henry squash Ryback instead!

It's a terrible spot. A few body slams and Bryan hit once into a barrier and all 3 are out for the count. Bleh!!

Anything that involves Rey Mysterio getting splatted is fine by me

WAHEY! This looks like the beginning of the end of Team Hell No! They will bought make it to the Elimination Chamber and one will eliminate the other! Then Wrestlemania clash!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

What happens to the tag team division though? Theyve spent the last 6 months putting real effort into it and now they are going to get rid of the champs and number one contenders just like that. I dont get it

Is it possible we've just seen a potential line-up for the Raw Elimination Chamber? Seems unlikely but you never know, especially now as it seems it'll be a Punk-Rock rematch at the Chamber.

I posted this in last weeks thread in regards to The Shield against Cena/Sheamus and Ryback(maybe the Miz with this segment). With Cena calling out The Shield later I think that this might actually happen using a War Games format of rules. Reckon it'd be a great match.

Looks like The Miz is about to get his ass kicked.

Jerichos hollowed out chest really freaks me out. Is there any reason for it?

"sit down marks" Punk is great awesome match.

Wow. It only took the locker-room 10 weeks to realise there's only 3 in the Shield and about 20 of them.

    terrible Raw.

I actually thought it was alright. Not the same without The Rock and Punk promo, but still it was alright. The matches were decent, the promos were decent, Cena wasn't as smirky and stuff, looks like the Shield are finally being turned against, was decent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 baked beanz

Thought it was a decent Raw with a crap crowd. If you take out all the app plugs there wasn't as much crap/cringy filler as usual.

Ah man classic, I just LOL'd at my desk at that! :D

Huh. The reaction I was coming on to post was that I thought that was quite a good Raw.

The Brock/Miz/Heyman segment was great; Miz looked like a proper babyface this time (unlike a few weeks ago against Punk), and they sold Brock as a monster and the F-5 as a deadly move. Heyman's reactions, once again, sold the beatdown perfectly.

Del Rio, likewise, throwing himself at Show continued to establish him as a great babyface, and Big Show should be credited for getting Del Rio over the right way.

Again, likewise, if the plan is to turn Maddox face, they did it brilliantly. Having him stand up to The Shield, knowing he's going to be killed, is the perfect face move (ok, even if they did it three times on this show).

Meanwhile, we had great matches with Cesaro vs Ryback, Jericho vs Punk and Bryan vs Rey. Swagger looked good as the returning heel. Cena's mic time was kept to a minimum so was pretty effective. Bruno into the HoF was great news.

Overall, imo, that was one of the best Raw shows in quite a while...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,029 ✭✭✭PinkFly

But still could have been fit in to a two hour show , why the heck do we need to see what happened on last weeks Raw every five minutes when we have watched it last week?? It's so repetitive!

Really enjoying the storylines going on at the mo

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,791 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Usually I'd agree on the three hours but I thought last night was pretty packed. Don't know if it all could be squashed down.

Ironically, my brother sat down for the last half hour, and had no clue why Del Rio was after Show, why they were in a hotel, who Brad Maddox even was or why Cena and Co. had a problem with the Shield. :P I know those run downs can be annoying and repetitive for us, but for the casual fans, they can be vital...

Should have had Punk's promo later, obviously they had to shove the WWE app down everyone's throat but after a very good opening it lost momentum that it was never able to regain, even with Brock because we don't know his motivations really.

Also hip replacement surgery :D ah now Vince.

They do that with every Heel faction. Next week the roster will be back to being scared of them again.

I thought that was the most consistently entertaining raw in months and months personally.

As TSC said the brock segment was class, really good matches that we havent seen in a long time as well whilst the del rio/show feud is building up nicely.

I thought the ending was lame though to be honest. Id like to know what they have planned for the shield

Lose to Cena & Co at EC, prob have a 3 on 3 match at WM, most likely lose that too and disband shortly after.

The Shield (The New New Nexus)

Brock travelled an awful long way just to beat up Vernon Kay

Probably paid six figures to do so.

    Happy Tuesday. :P

Yeah, I do worry Shield get fed to Cena at EC and that's the beginning of the end for them. I understand having Cena, the top babyface heading into the biggest match at Mania, beating the biggest threat in WWE at the moment. I get why they'll do it. But the smark in my doesn't want it to happen :(

In other news, that app apparently had something relevant to the PPV...
As noted earlier, John Cena has challenged Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to a six-man match with his partners Sheamus and Ryback at Elimination Chamber. The challenge aired on a WWE App exclusive video. Seth Rollins responded to the challenge on Twitter:

"Be careful what you wish for Johnny. #believeintheshield #EliminationChamber"

hopefully they book the match and the Shield attack Cena before it and beat Sheamo and Ryback in a handicap match or something because that is such a sure win for the faces, or make it so that Brock is secretly a part of the Shield or something...

That device behind him tells how many apps were downloaded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Yes but that wouldn't be very accurate if that's what it really was, I'd be nearly certain of that.

What was with Maddox's Bane impression?

And was it me, or was this episode a bit AJ-less

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,791 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Review-a-Wai guys said Ziggler was overseas on promotional duties, so presume AJ and Big E were with him.

The Bane thing threw me as well actually. They should have had Shield beat him so bad, he has to wear a mask from now on :P

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,791 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Since it was an intregal part of Raw, thought I'd ask here...has anyone else actually tried the app?

Just downloaded it, and have to admit, it's kind of cool. Granted, at first, it's just recaps, ads and the likes. But if you go into the superstars section, there's tonnes of videos and pictures for a lot of older wrestlers. Watching over Gillberg videos at the moment. :D

You'd likely find as much on Youtube, but for what it is, it's not actually all that bad...

Was reading Matt Fowler's wrap up here
    http://ie.ign.com/articles/2013/02/05/wrestling-wrap-up-brock-destroys-the-miz?abthid=51116b4a6dcc21381c000094

And he said AJ and Dolph came out for a dark match. Also includes a pic of Maddox in a Bane mask.

And if you look at the last pic on the page, is it me or does AJ's head look off compared to her body?

Hmm, Miz getting smacked by the chair looked like it wasn't supposed to happen.

Not sure if he was supposed to smack the couch either on landing either.

RAW went quick enough, well put together. Some good matches and built towards the chamber well. Delighted Swaggers intensity was still there this week and he wasn't forgotten about. I know he lost but it was a nice Change for Ryback to look vulnerable in a match. Jericho v Punk was pretty good. Cena and Pals v the Shiled was well done as they kept the Shield looking okay by escaping and as they already beat up Maddox got to show the destructive side.

Good to see Henry back but how many attacks can WWE pack into RAW before they lose any impact? Also not sure how many more times Wade and Orton can have a match.

Very entertaining Raw despite Rock not being there!

-Swagger looked weird and the crowd still don't give a shíte about him,'Patriot Act' as the name of the ankle lock is hilarious though.

-Big Show's stuff with Del Rio was very good again, particularly liked Del Rio showing up at Show's hotel in a Real Madrid tracksuit and battering him.

-Bryan/Mysterio was good, and I was surprised Bryan bet Rey clean with the crossface.Rey looks odd in his new suspender outfit though.Glad that Hell No finally seem to be coming to an end, whole act is very played out at this stage.

-Great to finally see Mark Henry back, and he still looks like a beast despite losing some weight.

-Miz Tv was shít as usual until Brock came out and shut Miz up.

-Punk/Jericho was very good,Punk's rant at the crowd near the end of the match was very amusing.Looked like he legit hurt his hip on the landing of the elbow drop.

-Ending was cool despite Maddox' overacting during his promo.Hopefully they don't try to turn Maddox face now.

At least he acted more like a face this time and didn't back down from the fight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,118 ✭✭✭xpletiv

Miz is doing well enough these days, especially compared to how he was in the past. Hes less annoying as a face, less annoying on the mic, and there is a bit more focus on his abilities. Mixing him up in a different ways has helped him.

That chair did look proper sore though.
