Hi I received a cheque from PRSI refunds.  The cheque is for the college green branch.  Is it possible to cash this cheque in any branch?  I don't see why it wouldn't be ok to do so as all banks are linked.  Just wondering can I cash it in my local branch rather than having to take it to the branch at college green.

    Hi john.reid86,

Most Government cheques are crossed and ‘Account payee only’ so they can not be cashed in any branch.  You can lodge this cheque into your Bank of Ireland account in any branch.

    Thanks for posting

I don't hold a bank of Ireland account and haven't for about 6 years now.  The government have my details for a Permenant TSB account.  So my question now stands at this.  Can I cash the cheque for money or do I have to have a Bank of Ireland account?

    Thanks,
    John

You have to lodge the cheque to your PTSB account. You will then be able to withdraw cash.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for posting.

As Kristopherus correctly mentions, the cheque needs to be lodged to a bank account. When it clears, the funds will then be available to you.

    Thanks

    Billy
