    Hi everyone,
Not looking for medical advice, actions have already been taken :) My other half has been suffering from rapid gastric emptying and rectal bleeding for almost a yr now. History of bowel cancer in family so he got a bit nervous and didn't mention it,finally came to a head in October with lots of black stools and bright red bleeding. Was admitted to hospital where they thought it was coming from the stomach so did endoscopy, this showed mild gastritis but that was it,no evidence of bleeding so he was put on list for colonoscopy, supposed to be donw withing 4 weeks but sure that's the health service for you. Anyway had it today and the doc said it all seems normal?? He's continued to have bright red bleeding when he wipes and goes to the bathroom at least 10 times a day. They took lots of biopsies and said he would be called in for results back to hospital in 3 months (gp said if results are fine they may just send out letter stating this). Now my question is....if the colon looks fine....if there is no sign or tears or aemorrhiods (there wasn't) ,would the colonoscopy itself have shown signs of colitis or could that still show in results? Or if the biopsy is normal what on earth else could it be? Think crohns is prob ruled out because that would show visually? Thanks.

    hi op

we can't speculate on causes or potential diagnoses here. these are questions he needs to ask his doctor.
