    Completed in 2013:

    - Borderlands (core game, haven't tackled DLC yet)
    - Dark Souls
    - Mark of the Ninja
    - Civilization V: Gods & Kings (completed a game of it as the Celts)
    - The Walking Dead
    - Spec Ops: The Line
    - Thomas Was Alone (very enjoyable!)

    All on PC.

Currently 10 hours into The Witcher 2 and about half way through Anomaly: Warzone Earth. Playing through a few co-op games with the GF (only the final level of Trine 2: The Goblin Menace to go!) and a number of casual games on the Nexus 7.
Update time - completed in 2013:

    - Borderlands (core game, haven't tackled DLC yet)
    - Dark Souls
    - Mark of the Ninja
    - Civilization V: Gods & Kings (completed a game of it as the Celts)
    - The Walking Dead
    - Spec Ops: The Line
    - Thomas Was Alone
    - Trine 2: The Goblin Menace
    - The Witcher 2

    All on PC.

I'm getting close to the end of Anomaly: Warzone Earth and am playing through Lego: Batman 2 and the newest Sonic racing game with the GF. I've also got a few games on the Nexus 7 on the go. Probably going to start Bioshock Infinite over the coming week.

I enjoyed The Witcher 2 but thought it was pretty over-rated at the same time, people went on about it here as if it was something really amazing - I didn't think so. The way the plot was framed was horrific, the disconnect between Chapters 1 and 2 was insane, it was like starting a completely new storyline. Maybe the game was primarily aimed at those already au fait with the world via the novels, which is fair enough, but I still had NO idea about who many of the side characters were when the ending cutscene rolled around, nor did I care much about many of the primary characters, included Gerald, as a result! The combat and other mechanics were fun enough and the graphics lovely, so I enjoyed it, but no chance I'd play it again, even with all the content you miss by choosing one side over the other. I actually think I preferred the original game to this second one, purely down to the more coherent plot in The Witcher. Last point, people were going on about how "mature" the game world is and how this is a huge positive - please, it's about as mature as a couple of 20-year-old trying to write a 'gritty urban drama' during their first year as English Lit undergraduates, throwing in some coarse language and adult situations doesn't make a game world more mature! :)

I don't know how anyway can find the The Witcher one plot more coherent, it was a mess because you could do missions out of order and the game took no account of this, so characters where mentioning people and things you where not suppose to know yet, or where unaware of certain events.

I admit the start of the Chapter 2 was jarring at first, but after a short time I personal had no problem figuring out who the new characters introduced where..

    Bioshock Infinite [PS3]

I really enjoyed the setting and story of Bioshock Infinite. I haven't played a game with such a strong sense of place in a long time. Pity the gameplay was boring to me. There was just no penalty for death so you could just walk straight up to enemies to kill them. If you die, no bother you just restart and the enemies you already killed are still gone.

Also the insane difficulty jump at the very last encounter was extremely frustrating. It annoyed me that I had to drop the difficulty level at the very end.

I thought it was a good game but the story was very slight. Graphically it looked good but you could sense it was really pushing the Vita the whole time so it was running quite slow at times.

    GTA V [PS3]

I thought it was excellent. I stuck completely to the main story missions and I don't think I did a single side quest. My one complaint would be how easy the game is. The only mission I had a problem with was when
Michael's house was invaded by Merryweather.

Thinking about this and I thought I hadn't completed anything but then a few came to mind.

    Sleeping Dogs [PC]
    Far Cry 3 [PC]
    GTA V [Xbox 360]

I find myself starting games and getting distracted with something new too easily.

The games I've finished have only been finished due to getting too caught up in them and playing religiously.

I'm currently trying to complete Assassins Creed 3 before Black Flag on the PS4 when it's out. I think I'm almost finished that now though.

After reading through here there are games that I haven't played which I now want to play. Can't believe I haven't played Max Payne 3 yet considering I was a huge fan of the first two and upgraded my PC back in the day to play the first one.

It took me ages to really get into it but I finally finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Quite liked it.

Went back through Fable 2 on the 360, such a great game!
Just finished my 2nd oblivion playthroug too. Main quest in 4 hours, its quite easy when you stay level 3 and have overpowered items :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,223 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

I don't think I could do that main quest again, having to close all those f*cking oblivion gates. They were all the same!

I finished the main story in Hitman Absolution last week. I really enjoyed it and I'll definitely be trying it again on a higher difficulty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 626 ✭✭✭Seaaan

Why would you bother closing gates, I've never done that. Do main quest as fast as possible then rush the guilds. After that it's just exploration to find every location and quest

Contrast [PS4] - I actually really enjoyed this game. Yes it was buggy as hell (including encounter 2 separate bugs that had me quit the the game and lose my progress) but the story was engaging, the art style unique and the voice acting was good.

Final update for the year - completed in 2013:

    - Borderlands (core game, haven't tackled DLC yet)
    - Dark Souls
    - Mark of the Ninja
    - Civilization V: Gods & Kings (completed a game of it as the Celts)
    - The Walking Dead + DLC
    - Spec Ops: The Line
    - Thomas Was Alone
    - Trine 2: The Goblin Menace
    - The Witcher 2
    - Vessel
    - Bioshock Infinite
    - FEZ
    - Psychonauts
    - Lego Batman 2
    - Anomaly: Warzone Earth
    - Dishonored

All on PC. Spent the most amount of time on Dark Souls, and think that ties with Bioshock Infinite for my personal GOTY. The Witcher 2 was probably my biggest disappointment, not because it was a bad game (it wasn't), it just wasn't as good as I hoped/was led to believe it would be. I also started a few games and then put them aside as I disliked them so much - Intrusion 2 and Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising spring to mind here. Played loads of LOL during the first half of the year but haven't logged on in ages.

Bought loads of games for my Nexus 7 but haven't finished any yet!

My 2013 list. Cannot believe it's a year since the 2012 one.

    Far Cry 3
Assasin's Creed 3 (buggy, unfinished mess - the worst in the series for me)
Sleeping Dogs (best sandbox game I've played, including GTA IV and V)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (classic ironman this time)
    Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
    The Walking Dead (Telltales)
    Spec Ops:The Line

Enjoyed all of them very much except AC3.
