Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sammon should be gone. Hoolahan on behind Long. I despair.....yet again watching an Ireland match.

It's a friendly for fcuks sake. Is Trap gonna throw Green on when we're 2 down to Sweden next month?

Paul Green, good stuff. We needed a ball player in the middle of the park.

he's certainly not quite at xavi or iniesta's level just yet but he is under-rated and will provide a calming influence hopefully in the second half as it was quite hectic and hurried in the middle of the park in the first half, i expect some will criticise him no matter what he does though

    Green dominating so far!

green and mcshame seem to be the targets for the boo-boys and lads I agree they aren't technically world class but you can't fault their work ethic or determination

determination and work ethic are not good enough to get on the team if you're shyte though. if that was the case, i'd be captain!

Aw yes just what we needed, sum Paul Green....called in last second yesterday. Bet other mf players in original squad are delighted he gets on ahead of them. Its Gibson Euro 2012 all over again. FFS Trap, just doesn't learn

McShane, Sammon and Green. The axis is complete.

    Touché.

**** people who call it soccer though.

If your country has a native game called football (i.e Gaelic football, American Football), then it's called soccer. The native sports take precedence.

that's incredibly harsh, two lads out their breaking their balls for the country and being called shyte just because they don't do stepovers and cruyff turns

My native game is football. I was born and raised in Dublin. I refuse to say 's*****r'.

Cunningham isn't giving Blaszczykowski an inch here. Playing very well so far

No one calls Gaelic football, football though. They always put Gaelic in front of it.

Failing to identify with GAA isn't unpatriotic.

It's very rare that you don't gain anything from watching a game. I have learned absolutely nothing about the Irish team from the first 60 mins.

Paul Green - omitted from squad yet he is on the field while a Premiership regular like Hoolahan stay on the bench. Some preparation for Sweden. This is stupid.

No some GAA heads would always say football when they mean Gah.

Sammon with the deft touch of an elephant.

    Mcshane FFS!!

Gives the ball away and is the cause of McCarthy getting booked.

Ah Sammon. No need for the touch.

    Weso on but Long off.

    Snipers!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,948 ✭✭✭Banjaxed82

    Why take off Long??

Surely bringing on Hoolahan, who can pick a pass, you'd be better off having someone with some pace to play on the defender's shoulder?

Good choice. Take long off. Sammon looks like he's about to pounce. He's lured the poles into a false sense of security. The king of craftiness ;)

I've learnt Cunningham is well able to hold his own at this level, Sammons not and Forde needs to work on his kicking if he wants a game at this level

Haha, Kuba sorting out the flare.

ooh it's official now, no fireworks are to be thrown on to the pitch!

    Brady has been beyond woeful.

At least he looks comfortable on the ball. Needs to work on his end product though.

    Going for 1 - 1

With this thread pretty much summed up with:

    Whelan is shocking.
    Is Sammon on the pitch?
****ing O'Shea nearly cost us again
    Brady has been poor
    Cunningham has been class
Forde should not be our goalkeeper
McClean is a one season wonder
    What a ball from McCarthy
    Clark ....
    McShane is slow
    Love how fast long is!

    BRING ON WES

    Bumping this

TBF, these games aren't only about the win. Trap knows all he needs to about Long.

    Sammon hasn't stepped up, though.

This is painful to watch...how are we winning this?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,536 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

I think Cunningham has to be considered 2nd in the left-back pecking order after this. He's looked good.

McCarthy also has to be a guaranteed starter IMO.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,072 ✭✭✭Max Power

That flare been thrown onto the pitch has been the highlight so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,435 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Mc Shane is brutal but by Jaysus does he give it 100%. Can't fault him for effort at all.
