I don't know what people see in that UI. It looks boring and uninspired.

have to agree. very dull....very windows 8 touchpad....i wonder if a touch tv will work with that dash.....like press on the tv screen and the corresponding tile launches

lots of small squares, can they be resized  - moved about, grouped - ala windows 8

that dash seeing it more and in use, i much prefer the ps5 dash.

Is the x1 controller bigger than the x360 controller? it's hard to tell from that vid but it kinda looks a lil bit bigger doesn't it?

From most magazine previews, it would appear to be slightly smaller in the hand than the 360 one (but surprisingly more comfortable).

Am I the only one that can't view that YouTube video? It seems to have been removed...

Thanks! Like the entire next gen lineup it still all seems a bit 'meh' to me. New consoles for the sake of it, I see very little innovation with this round of consoles.

Yup, would have to agree. It almosts looks like the original xbox controller. Suppose it was only a matter of time before we started to get leaks, I remember a good few of them for the xbox360 aswell.

Every article I read states that it's slightly smaller.

I think the UI looks fine, much better than the original blade set up of the 360 anyway. The "pins" section is also about a billion times better than what it is on the 360. Having them on the xbox one home screen is super useful, having to click into my pins, slowly wait for it to load, and then have them appear on the 360 was a pain.

I wonder how long the DRM check is? You know, where the disk has to spin up, read it, and make sure that it actually is Ryse in the tray. Will that impact on load times for games that were not bought digitally?

same size or smaller than the current 360 one will be fine with me. That one he had might have been a beta, or else he has small hands :)

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet: IGN Q&A

It has some nice details like that you can be signed into a 360 & One at the same time and HD avatars.

A good rebuttal of the ps4 being more powerful than the x1. Hopefully one of the computer geeks on here will be able to confirm or deny what he's saying.

I think the best thing to do is just wait until the games come out to judge.
Both Sony and MS have an agenda and aren't going to admit if a competing console is superior.

    I'd value developers opinions more.

Would not trust that article at all, it is coming from a unverified poster on NeoGAF, they tore him apart if you read the whole thread, plus he claimed to have the full PS4 specs, some of which are not in the public domain and I doubt would of been leaked to Microsoft.

The thread is here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=673713 and the post is here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=673713&page=15

Unverified poster? You sure about that? I don't think NeoGAF would allow someone to post as Albert Penello unless verified. They've banned people for much less.

Would be a bit small time going on a site like Neogaf and stating all these facts, facts of which most of the posters did not agree with and picked him apart on. He is actually asking for people to apologize to him now, it could actually be him though, yet another small PR disaster ongoing in that thread, they really did tear him apart over what he has said, say what you want about NeoGAF but a lot of them know their stuff.

Who cares about which is the fastest? 90% of the games on them will be cross-platform, and so will be aimed to run on the slowest device.

That's actually depressing. Thankfully exclusives will play to the strengths of both.

It's hard to believe that people are still arguing over which is the most powerful console,
it's like, my Subaru impreza is faster than your Lancer evo, yes but my evo accelerates quicker than your Subaru, blah blah blah:D

Exactly....he admits the X1 only has 12CU's vs. PS4 18....he claims the X1 CPU is 10% faster then the PS4....but he dosent know the final clock speeds of the PS4!

It could be 1.6-2.0Ghz...point is he dosent know the final retail specs of the PS4, he dosent know GPU speeds....

Surely its down to the games. No point being better/faster if the games aren't there or if for some reason multiplatform games turn out to be better on one console over the other.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭Xenji

Well we were talking about this last month and Marcus Nilsson suggested that the new Need For Speed game would look better on one console and that it was the PS4.

    http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/need_for_speed_rivals/news/need_for_speed_rivals_may_look_a_little_better_on_one_next-gen_console_than_the_other.html

Only a few days ago Adrian Chmielarz ( Gears of War ) said that from what he has seen and from other developers he has asked that the PS4 is 50 percent faster than the XBOX One.

    http://www.gamepur.com/news/11990-andrian-chmielarz-issue-detailed-explanation-ps4-50-faster-xone-claim.html

Anton Yudintsev who is part of the Warframe Dev team has stated last month that the PS4 has a GPU that is 40 percent faster than the XBOX One.

    http://www.gamechup.com/war-thunder-dev-ps4-gpu-is-40-more-powerful-than-xbox-one-gpu/

I am gonna make my mind up on this when I actually see how games work and look on both consoles, but there must be something to this with all these articles as they keep coming up, besides the usual trying to get the customer to buy one over the other.

    From Adrian Chmielarz again
Does it mean studios will cripple PS4 versions to match XO ones? Not really, do not underestimate the devs. Even if this happens, you will not know that and that's okay. You've never seen most games in their most powerful form anyway (when we work on them on our ninja dev PCs in 1080p 120fps with all the antialiasings and stuff turned on for ****s and giggles). But most of the time devs have a target and they meet this target. If it's a multiplatform game, it's designed with this in mind from the start. So maybe it's not maxing out one console while going 100% on the other. Maybe it's 100% on both, but they take extra time for super-extra optimizations on the weaker hardware to make sure things look the same as on the more powerful platform. Etc. etc.

Well thats exactly why I make my mind up on games. Start with the exclusives and then your hoping that a lot of the multiplatform games turn out just as good as each other. (generally the ones I like do, call of duty/battlefield)

Well going on what he said and those other articles yes the ps4 might be more powerful, but if devs have tight deadlines/lazy then they might never use that extra % power on the ps4 version. You'd expect some exclusives will be told get everything you can out of this console, just like "last of us" on ps3
