Don't know whether to get B4 or COD around launch time. When playing mp I find Battlefield looks better and is more tactical while COD is a lot easier to play but can get repetitive.

BF4 is a war simulation. It is amazing. That would be my choice.

Multi-player, yes, single-player, no. It's one of the best games of the year

Agree on that but they are both still same game with same development team.

GTA online has been probably the most spectacular example of turning a record breaking game with great potential into an unmitigated cluster fuck with not even the most basic of things working alot of the time.

They got the trollability in the multiplayer bang on though.

Glad I traded in my GTA after I finished the single player mode, actually got more money for it then when I bought with the whole 25% extra you get when you put the money on a console pre order in Gamestop.

Online was a mess. But it was worth it, to come out the other side on the end of a great multiplayer game.

Completely off-topic, but the bugs encountered are too be expected, however they are normally picked up in beta. That's the issue with online, they never did an extensive beta test.

As far as I know it will need an internet connection the first time you turn it on, and also the first time you play a game.

When they scan the barcode on the ticket at the door your name and plus one will appear on their devices.

You might also want to double check your ticket as the 16th is Saturday.

No the ticketholder must be 18 and their friend must also be 18 but I don't know how strict they will be.

    Can I bring a friend?
Yes, you can bring one friend if you selected this when registering for the event. Your friend has to be 18 years or older and must bring photo identification (valid passport, EU driving licence or government issued ID card showing his/her name and age) as proof of age. You cannot bring more than one friend.

I THINK the wi u is a good console,
i just think you should be able to play any game with a good controller,
    in your hand ,

NOT by looking at 2 screens ,or using a tablet.
    or waving at a kinect.

ITS not effecient on power ,or design ,
or well designed for most gamers.
MOST people are not hard core gamers,
if a designer cant make a game that works ,
on a 10 button, controller ,with dpad,
    and 2 thumbsticks ,
he should look for a new job.

I think what will happen ,is 90 per cent of xbox 1 games
will not need to use the kinect.
    it,ll be optional.
THERE might be voice commands ,
like throw grenade, show map, etc which can be used by voice or
a button press , as you prefer .

THE xbox 1 is a great console, i just regard the kinect as a gimmick.
WHICH take s ,up memory, processing power , for no good reason.
i hope it can be just switched off,
if you just wanna play COD ,or gta 6.

LIKE the wiu tablet is a gimmick , in my opinion.

Back in the mists of time, when the people went from the NES to the SNES, people talked about how game designers that can't make a game work with 2 buttons and a d-pad should look for a new job.

Kinect will most definitely be optional. In fact, for the first generation of games, I'd say it will be totally superfluous. I am more interested in the games that come next, like D4, or any games that are willing to leverage the azure cloud to power voice recognition?

The new Kinect finally seems able to deliver on the promise of the original kinect, it will now be up to developers to come out with original ideas built for Kinect.

You are also totally writing off the Nintendo DS there, one of the greatest handhelds ever made.

It would take longer to say "throw grenade" than to press the grenade button. I won't be using voice commands for anything, I don't think.

I don't care about using the kinect for games. I just want to be sprawled out on the couch going 'Xbox change channel, turn up volume, find some amateur porn, mute Michael Owen's voice, block every soap, play The Beatles, tell me I'm sexy', that's all I want.

For things like this? No, I won't be either. But what if you could have a natural conversation with an AI character perhaps?

The first games on the Nintendo DS were pretty much terrible, and used the touchscreen as an inventory screen. By the end of the lifetime of the DS, the various concepts that have used that touchscreen in ways we couldn't have imagined at the start is mind-boggling. All of that came about because someone was crazy enough to include a second touch screen by default, so I'm hoping that something similiar happens with the Kinect.

Mark Rubin explained today why CoD is 720p on the X1
“You know, it’s easy to be comparative when you’re looking at both systems," said Rubin. "When you see one out of context from the other I don’t think it’s a big concern. We did our best to make the best looking game on each console, and making sure we nailed down 60 frames per second. That was a key pillar for us."

He went on to explain that there's no agenda or definite reason for the difference. “There’s no maliciousness, there’s no specific reason why one’s 720p, one’s 1080p," he said. "That’s just the way the optimisation came out to. To keep a smooth frame rate we needed to be 720p on Xbox One. That being said, it is being upscaled to 1080p, so it is outputting 1080p on your TV, and for the most part the game does look really good. Some people actually think the textures look a little bit nicer maybe on Xbox than they do on PS4.

"You’ll hear a bunch of opinions back and forth, but that’s all they really are. They’re opinions.”

I asked if Xbox One would achieve 1080p with the next instalment in the series. "Very possibly. We put new technology into this game before we even had the consoles. So we had no idea how well that technology was going to work on the consoles. Now that we are finally getting the consoles we can start optimising those features better. So I imagine... for an example, if you look at Call of Duty 2 over Call of Duty 4, which was our next game, it’s a significant improvement.

“The analogy I’ve used in several interviews is… the first game on a console is sort of like a first date. It’s very awkward as you try to learn what each other’s interests are. That’s how making a new game on a console is.”

The reason Rubin gives for the difference in resolution, then, is unfamiliar architecture and the optimisation process to maintain that 60 frames per second experience.

I loved Deadly Premonition, and one of the games I'm looking forward to is D4. Apparently, the kinect integration of that is quite good.

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-24-d4-looks-like-the-first-game-to-be-truly-better-on-kinect

It'll be worth watching with interest to see how people find kinect in another test. Dead Rising 3. I'll not be getting it, but if it's done well, it could be the first step on the road to convincing people of the worth of kinect. I need to be convinced myself, but I'm willing to be convinced. I imagine most people here actually are, but some really seem to want to hate it.

In my opinion yes, it will be well worth a look to see what the XB1 has to offer. From day 1 of the event I'd expect attendees will be posting up their experiences which will give a better insight for those of us attending later in the week.

I'm holding out on a new console until the new year. I just really want to see what the controller feels like and how big the console is itself.

Then that ticket is wasted on you tbh... you can check one out at releasr and decide over coming months what you want.. annoying as i am sure others who plan on buying now will miss out on the chance to aattend this

That game's on my radar after Deadly Premonition becoming one of my favourite games.

Swery games are so shoddy, but loveable. He'll either fail miserably with the Kinect, or do something that would make even ME plug the thing in.
