Consoles never use the latest hardware, it's impossible given the lead times for game development. If you want launch titles you need to use 12-18 month old hardware

but the technology they are using is much older than that

    Not backwards compatible - confirmed

Was never a selling point for me anyway so no worries there.

Seems console linked, rather than account linked, but I've not had clarification yet

It would have to be otherwise no one in the house would be able to play any games unless they all signed in with the same profile.

So that's why EA dropped their online passes - Microsoft are implementing them at a console level.

    Ask Nintendo :P

Hard to believe MS would make the system so backward, why not tie content to accounts?

Really?? So in the event of the inevitable console failure a few years down the road...that would be the story?

That's not how they do DLC now so I can't imagine why they'd change it.

Why not show games at the unveiling of a games console?

Interesting looking at the share prices of Sony, Microsoft and Gamestop over the last two hours.

Trying to clear up the whole account/console tying thing. Might take a while. Still haven't gotten imagery through yet

Its not 7970m is a great GPU
the 8(ish) core cpu is fairly new tech
8gb ram is a good standard

they also have to worry about the Thermal envelope of the console

Get the PC version of CoD Ghosts running on a 3 year old mid range PC then at 60fps at 1080p and to be fair with all the graphics on low.

Very hard to do. Consoles are designed for it.

Only home from work and am trying to catch up with the video from xbox.com.....but for the first ten minutes now it's just a load of spas talking bollocks.

Can anybody tell me at what point they actually reveal the new console?

No more picking up games for 5-10 finding a real gem, no more renting a game before you buy to see if you enjoy it. Gamestop prob wont be around by the end of next year

    was it that bad?

i've not been paying much attention to any of the new consoles up to now, my xbox gets used more for sky and streaming than games these days so I'm in no real hurry to upgrade

Installation is PER ACCOUNT, not console

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,330 ✭✭✭niallon

It's not backwards compatible? Ah sure I guess I can deal with it, sure I'll just slot it I'm beside my XBOX3........SWEET MOTHER OF GOD! The bloody thing is horrendous! And huge! The physical look of the device is fairly irrelevant I know but the design of the One is that bad that it's actually bothering me. Not good

Apart from that I'm fairly happy, revealed more than Sony while really revealing nothing at the same time. I'll be perfectly happy to pick this one up.
